Welcome to CBH!
The Clara Barton Hawthorne school year has gotten off to a great start! It is so nice to have students back in the buildings. Our students are working hard to learn all the new patterns and procedures that are needed to make it through the school day.
Thank you to our grade 2 students and teachers for helping the kindergarten students navigate their way through the lunchroom. We could not do this without their help!
Please contact the main office if you would like to schedule a meeting with Ms. Folden or Mrs. Rainsberry to discuss a concern. We look forward to hearing from you and helping with any questions or concerns you may have.

Tardy Procedure
The following is the late/tardy procedure that is followed at CBH. This is a school-wide plan that will take place in each classroom. Our goal is to have all students ready to learn when the day starts.
Thank you for your help in reaching our goal.
- Students will be in the classroom once the second bell rings.
- They will be prepared and ready for their day.
- Any students who walk into the classroom after the second bell will be marked tardy by the classroom teacher.
- Once lunch count is submitted, any students who enter the classroom need to report to the office for a tardy slip.
- Once having entered the classroom, students must have teacher permission to leave the classroom for any reason.

GT Angle from Anna Wuitschick
There are lots of wonderful changes set to begin this year in gifted services. First, services from Mrs. Wuitschick are now on a rotating schedule using the numbered days so students should not be missing services due to other specials or days off. On days 1,3, and 5, she will be at Clara Barton and on days 2 and 4 she will be at Hawthorne.
Throughout the school year at Hawthorne, Mrs. Wuitschick will be visiting classrooms in grades kindergarten through second grade to teach lessons called Primary Elementary Thinking Skills. Students who demonstrate learning characteristics of academically talented learners will be working with Mrs. Wuitschick in small groups. Second graders who qualify academically will meet with Mrs. Wuitschick for math and literacy instruction in addition to these small groups.
Mrs. Wuitschick will be MAP testing students at Clara Barton that she works with both formally (those on an Individualized Learning Plan) and those she has worked with informally during the week of September 6th through the 9th.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions at wuitsca@fargoschools.org .

School Counselor Information
Welcome back to school! This year we are fortunate to get another counselor to assist at Hawthorne! Our new counselor’s name is Mrs. Broe. She will be working with our Kindergarten and first-grade students!
In the months of August and September, we will be going into classrooms and teaching both an introduction to the counselor lesson and a “Skills for Learning” lesson from our Second Step curriculum.
In kindergarten and first grade, students will learn the listening rules “eyes watching, ears listening, voices quiet and body still.”
In second and third grade, students will review the “Skills for Learning” focusing on how to listen and focus their attention.
In fourth and fifth grade, students will learn how to show others they are listening by “focusing on the person’s words, not interrupting, asking questions and repeating back what the speaker said to show they understand.”
We hope you are having a wonderful start to the school year! Please let us know if there is anything we can help with! Our office number is 446-4508.
