Holiday Celebration

Our class will be having a gift exchange on Friday, December 19th. The gift should be NO MORE than $5.00 and it MUST be something students can use in class (i.e. pencils, erasers, markers, etc). Boys should bring items for boys and girls for girls. In addition, we will have a few fun festivities this last day of the quarter to celebrate our progress and successes this quarter. Please feel free to contact me directly if you wish not to participate. Thank you!

BOGO Scholastic Book Fair

Come take advantage of 'Buy One Get One Free' at the Scholastic Book Fair for only 3 days, Dec.8-10. Students may visit before and after school and during recesses only. Students may also cash in their Box Tops for prizes in the book fair in the library.

MATH TUTORING MONDAY ONLY

REMINDER: Math tutoring every Monday from 3:15-3:45 for those who need extra support. For my bus riders, I will be holding tutoring during lunch on Tuesdays from 12:15-12:45.

HOLIDAY GIFT SHOP

Wolf Canyon's Holiday Gift Shop will be open Dec. 15-18 which provides you child with the opportunity to purchase something special for loved ones. Please look for the packet with more information in the homework folder Monday.

WOLF CANYON WINTER FESTIVAL CONCERT

We hope to see you at Wolf Canyon's first musical concert where 4 of our classmates will be playing their recorder on Thursday, December 11th at 6:30 p.m. To those who are participating in the concert, please practice at home this week. We hope to see you all there to support our classmates.

FAREWELL SALMA

I'm sad to inform you our classmate Salma has left our little family. Her last day was last week but we wish her well at Salt Creek Elementary and hope she loves her new class as much as we loved having her!

ROCK & MINERAL POWERPOINT & SPEECH

If you do not already have access to PowerPoint at home, sent home last week was directions on how to use Office 365 (which includes PowerPoint) via your child's account from the district. Every child is given an email account and access to all updated programs under Office 365. I helped many walk through their set up and how to access P.P. on Friday. PLEASE NOTE: username is studentID@live.cvesd.org and password is Uppercase first letter of first name, lowercase first letter of last name, followed by 8 digit birthdate (NO SPACES). This project is due this FRIDAY, DECEMBER 12th and presentations will be held Monday, December 15th.

ACHIEVE 3000 INCENTIVE

For an extra incentive we will continue adding name to our raffle box for those who perform 100% on their FIRST TRY in class (not at home) and will be in the drawing for LUNCH WITH THE TEACHER. I will randomly choose 3 names for the month of December to take out to lunch as a reward for their success on Achieve 3000. I will be randomly draw (3) names from the raffle box this Friday for lunch next week.

THIS WEEK'S LEARNING

Math: Solve division problems using the area model, identify and define prime & composite numbers as well as find factor pairs for numbers to 100 and use associative property. ***MATH QUIZ THURSDAY*** Results will be on HW calendar on Friday.

Reading: Reading informational texts and be able to explain the text structure (graphic organizer) used and how it helps better understand non-fiction text.

Writing: Informative/expository writing by creating an online encyclopedia entry.

Social Studies: The Effects of the Gold Rush and California becomes a state.

Science: The properties of rocks & minerals and the processes that formed them (waves, wind, water, and ice.)
