Early Light Academy - Week of December 11
From the Desk of Mrs. Young, Director
I enjoy my weekly reading visit to our kindergarten classes here at ELA as I read series of books with them on Tuesdays. Whether we are reading about Fly Guy, monsters, aliens, dinosaurs, pirates, or pigeons, I know that we will enjoy a small adventure together as we turn the pages of each book we read. It has become a highlight of each week for me!
No matter how old or young kids are, they get a kick out of reading aloud together. Reading with children is an important way to build healthy relationships while supporting the development of literacy and language skills. Please consider taking some time over Winter Break to read a book together as a family. What adventures will you share as you read together? What memories will you make? I'd love to see your reading in action--feel free to post a reading picture to ELA social media or you can even send me an email with a picture of your family reading (syoung@earlylightacademy.org).
I'm looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

Utah Educational Leadership Standards: Public Review Window
The current Utah Educational Leadership Standards have been reviewed by a standards review committee and draft review standards have been written under the direction of the Utah State Board of Education. The writing team consisted of principals, charter school directors, district central office staff, superintendents, and representatives from higher education. The writing teams used a number of resources in their work.
The draft UELS are available for public review for 90 days ending on February 4, 2018. You are invited to review the draft standards and complete a survey to share any feedback you may have.
