Senior Information Sessions- November 2nd
Senior Families we will be hosting three breakout information sessions during the College & Career Fair on Wednesday November 2nd in the library.
5:30-6:00 PM- Financial Aid 101 (Spanish)
6:00-6:30 PM- College 101
6:30-7:00 PM- Financial Aid 101
12th Year Campaign- Financial Aid Information & Filing Events
The 12th Year Campaign can help you with two important steps you need to take to go to college: applying for college and applying for financial aid. The first step is to file a FAFSA or WASFA financial aid application. There will be an option to get one on one assistance with filing the FAFSA/WAFSA during these events.
Join one of the events to learn more and get help. Must pre-register to have Zoom link emailed to you.
One available date for Spanish language assistance- October 19th.

Scholarship Opportunities
Washington State University Regents Scholarship- Deadline 10/16
The Regents Scholars Program has two award levels:
Regents Scholar: $4,000 per academic year for four years. All qualified nominees who complete the admission and scholarship application process by the deadline will receive this award. *This is selected by the SHS nomination committee*
Distinguished Regents Scholar: Full tuition and mandatory fees for up to 18 credits per semester, for four years. Approximately 10 students will receive this award. *This is selected by the WSU selection committee*
WSU MUST BE YOUR FIRST CHOICE SCHOOL TO BE CONSIDERED
To be eligible for nomination and consideration for a Regents Scholarship Program, students must:
- Be a Washington state resident.
- Be a high school senior and graduating 2023
- Demonstrate exceptional academic achievement based on grade point average (GPA) of 3.6 or higher, as well as, community, civic, and co-curricular involvement.
- Enter the WSU Pullman campus as a freshman in the fall semester after high school graduation.
- Undocumented students can be nominated as long as they meet the criteria above, and are eligible to complete the Non-US Citizens Affidavit of Residency.
- Complete the WSU application for admission (including sending high school transcripts) and complete the general scholarship application by the Regents Scholars Program deadline

Washington State Fair Foundation Blue Ribbon Scholarship
The Washington State Fair Foundation awards more than $160,000 in scholarships annually to students living in Washington! Applications will open on December 1. You will need two letters of recommendation to apply. For more information go to: https://www.thefair.com/foundation/scholarships/

Requesting Letter of Recommendations
NOTE:
- You will need to speak to the teacher prior to sending this information to discuss the request.
- Please do not just send this and expect a letter of recommendation.
- Follow up with the person you are requesting the letter from.
- Give a minimum of two weeks prior to when you need the letter of recommendation.
- Send a thank you once received.

Mental Health Referral Service - Seattle Children's now offers a referral line for families looking for mental health services. Families can call the number to provide their request, insurance information, and times available, and the referral specialist will set them up with a few providers who have openings and work for their given insurance/schedule.
