Mrs. Walters' News

Dear Bushnell Elementary Families,

It was a soggy, wet start to our Friday! I am anticipating some wet snow pants and gear when your child arrives home after school.

I've seen some students bringing their snow gear in separate bags which is a great idea! Bags like reusable Meijer bags or the bags you get from places like Trader Joe's or Urban Outfitter's work great! They are made from waterproof materials and have big handles for little bodies. If this is something you would like to do- go for it!

Monday is a half day and we will begin dismissal at 11:30. We finish by 11:50. During the morning of the Dr. Martin Luther King, jr. holiday, your children will be learning about the work and legacy of MLK and hopefully begin to appreciate our own Lowell Area Schools values of inclusion, respect, and honoring each individual's uniqueness. We have a long way to go as a country with regard to racism and division, but I am thankful to have the opportunity to teach our youngsters about the importance of this work.

If you would like your child to have a take home lunch on Monday- fill out the food service survey below! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeb6L_mROh6epeYg3NVBN-Fa7epcvJnuLXnNwG1JBI8_T6F2A/viewform

In the afternoon, our staff will be participating in some activities and learning around diversity, equity, and inclusion created by Lowell staff and directly focused on our own Lowell community. I'm excited to learn and grow along side our staff in these areas.

We have two new little friends at Bushnell! We are working on names but they are two 3 month old, female guinea pigs! They are super tame, love to snuggle, adore attention and will be part of our incentive and social emotional learning program! See pictures below!

Are you interested in subbing at Bushnell? See below for the links to get started! Our sub staffing is slim and your help would be appreciated!

Finally, I hate to have to continue sharing this message. Parents who pick up their children at the end of the day- do not park in the back of the building. It is not safe for our children! We have two buses that pick up students in that area and the extra traffic is a hazard. Please respect this reminder.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Erin Walters

New American Flag for Bushnell!

Thank you to the Newsted family for purchasing a flag for Bushnell and helping to get this patriotic practice back at Bushnell. Abe Newsted, a first grade Bushnell student and cub scout, will be raising and lowering the flag for us.
