News and Notes from Clever 6-8 Middle School December 2020
Leaders Among Us Teacher Spotlight
Leader in Me provides a great framework for tackling these challenges and finding support throughout the process. The Adult Learning Action Team would like to highlight some of our staff that are influencing others by living the habits at school and in their personal lives.
Heather King - 6th Grade Mathematics Teacher
Heather has taken on her role as a Lighthouse Coordinator with grace. She demonstrates her leadership by taking the time to learn along side, helping draw focus to our circle of control and listening to those who need to be heard. And we're not just talking about her students. Heather is quick to lend a hand to anyone in need - friend, peer, student or stranger on the street. One coworker summed her nomination up by stating, "I'm proud to call Heather a friend and colleague!"
A Very Clever Christmas Food Drive!
As the holidays are quickly approaching, we at Clever Middle School recognize the unique challenges some families will encounter during the holiday season this year. Economic difficulties during this time can make the holidays stressful for families.
Last year, CMS hosted a holiday food drive to help support a few of our local families. We again are hosting this food drive, however, this year we added another layer to help generate support. Students and teachers are encouraged to participate in what we are calling “A Very Clever Christmas.” Check out the flyer below for more details. After two weeks, we have collected numerous food items and over $100 to help purchase items.
Students will be drafting letters to local businesses in an effort to collect donations leading up to the holidays. Any help with this project is much appreciated.
Second Semester Learning Options
As we look ahead to the second semester of our 2020-21 school year, we are making plans to meet the needs of both seated and virtual students. In order to do this, we are asking parents and guardians to complete a change form ONLY if you intend to make a change to your student's current academic plan. In other words, if your student is currently a virtual student but you will be sending them for seated classes second semester OR if your student is currently seated but will be switching to a virtual platform, we ask that you submit a change form by December 4.
Participation in Bluejays@Home for second semester will require administrative approval.
