La Mariposa School
August Newsletter
What an exciting first week of school. All of our students look happy and our campus looks better than ever. A big thank you to our fabulous PTA for the “Welcome Back Party”. It was fun seeing kids reuniting with their friends and greeting new families.
On Wednesday, teachers and staff welcomed our new and returning Tigers. All of our teachers were out front to greet our kids and it was a real red carpet opening with music and balloons.
Thanks to Bond Measure C, our school was painted and every classroom received beautiful new furniture. La Mariposa has never looked better.
We are extremely proud of the academic progress we made last year and have already set goals for the coming year. Attendance continues to be an area we will focus on. Please make sure your kids come to school every day unless they are sick.
I made it to every classroom Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and our kids are in the best hands. Our teachers really are exceptional.
Our first-grade students visited the office on Friday. It was an "orange day" and they were looking for "Pete the Cat" and found a clue. We all enjoyed hearing them sing.
Your child’s safety is of utmost importance to me, and I want to review a few things to ensure that our kids are safe:
Beginning Tuesday, parents are not allowed on the playground. Parents need to remain in the lunch area or playground sidewalk. Please do not wait near the classrooms. This is only permitted in transitional kindergarten and kindergarten. This will help to ensure the safety of our students. Also, our teachers really need this quiet time to prepare for your children.
Please do not drop off your kids in the parking lot. If you want to drop them off, you need to use the drive-through at the front of the school. The good news is, you can now park in the front and side parking lot. Drop-offs and pick-ups will only take place in front of the school. The side parking lot drive-through is for buses only.
Please use only the crosswalks in and around the school. Be especially careful at the crosswalk on the side of the school and when you are pulling out of the parking lots. We have had some close calls in the past.
Students waiting to be picked up should wait in the drop-off zone at the front of the school or near the lunch tables on the side of the school. Students are not permitted to walk to the bike racks for pick up. We do not have adult supervision there. The side parking lot drive through is for buses only. You can park in the side parking lot and walk up to get your child.
We are very excited about the year ahead and I thank you for taking the time to tell me how happy you are with the school and your child’s teachers.
I hope your family enjoys the three day weekend. I’m looking forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on September 18th at 6:00 pm.
Best Wishes,
