Big Learning Ideas this week

Math- In math we worked on multiplication comparison problems. We also worked on multiplying with tens, hundreds, and thousands. We ended the week talking about the distributive property.

Distributive Property Example

5 X 12=? 12 can be split into 10 and 2. So... (5 X 10) + (5 X 2) will get you the same answer as 5 X 12.

Science- In science we have been talking about food chains. We discussed how components of tacos are part of a food chain.

For example: tomatoes: Sun --- tomato---human

We finished by talking about the difference between predators and prey.

Spelling- We have been working on the spelling pattern of long e. This pattern shows up in the form of a group of letters, such as "ee" as in seek, "ie" in piece, and ea in peach. Our spelling test will be on Monday, September, 19.

Writing- This week in writing we have been using graphic organizers to plan for our narrative writing. We have identified characters, setting, and a sequence of events.

Reading- This week in reading we have been discussing inferring.
