Maria Montessori

The life of the early childhood.

Early life

Maria was born in Italy in August 31, 1870. She broke the traditions of male and female and teacher and students at a very young age. Her mother was a wealthy, well educated person for her family. Her parents were very supportive. She was very close to her father until he past away but without her mother she wouldn't of done what she did. She started studying Engineering. But then her relatives, friends, and father all say that it was an un lady like discipline.

School and eduation

She wasn't only the first lady to go to college and get a degree in doctoring but she became the first doctor in Italy. Her score in graduated was 100 out of 105 the diploma was alter for a female at that time. She was the women's international congress in Berlin.

The Theory

Her theory is independence, observation, following the child, correcting the child, prepared environment, and absorbent mind.

  • independence- "dont help a child with a task at which he feels he can succeed."-maria montessori. This is giving the child the opportunity to try on their own and learn to do something independence.
  • observation- is a way an adult can learn how the child learns, plays with other, and has the imaginary.
  • following the child- being there for the child to help them but not overprotect them.
  • correcting the child-making the child realize the mistake instead of yelling at the child... make it in a question to clean the mess up is a good way for the child is not in trouble but she clean it up... to learn that you make the mess you clean it up...
  • Prepared Environment- "The teacher’s first duty is to watch over the environment, and this takes precedence over all the rest. It’s influence is indirect, but unless it be well done there will be no effective and permanent results of any kind, physical, intellectual or spiritual." – Maria Montessori.
  • This is meaning that the environment is influence to do physical and intellectual or spiritual things.

  • Absorbent Mind- The mind can learn everything... instead of say "no" we say "stop" because we say "no" and they will say it back to us later or swearing they can catch that and swear back to our face...
