Welcome Back!

Welcome back to our SHHS Counseling Department newsletter. We are excited to see that many of you are able to read this newsletter! For this newsletter, we hope to continue giving you some relevant information that will better prepare you for school year as things speed up!

Announcements:

1. Senior Picture Retakes will be held on 9/7 and 9/8

for more information on pictures contact radom@jcschools.org


2. Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on 9/9 from 3pm to 6pm.

PTC this year will be drop-in visits only. You do not need to schedule an appointment. Please come when you are available to meet with our Teachers.


3. Want to take the ASVAB? Registration is now open for sophomores, juniors, and seniors. The ASVAB will be given on Tuesday, September 28. Please fill out the form HERE to register. Deadline to register is Monday, September 20 by 3:00 pm.


4. Attention Sophomores and Juniors, registration for the PSAT/NMSQT Exam on Tuesday, October 26th is now open from Tuesday, Sept. 7th – Monday, September 13th at 3 PM. Please use this Registration Link to register and pay your $20.00 fee.

Students:

*Seniors* -- SHHS offers a free ACT for all seniors on October 5, 2021. Students will not need to register for this school-based ACT on October 5. If you'd like to register for an ACT on a National Test Date (dates found on the website), please register at act.org.

September - Begin completing college/TCAT admission applications

September/October - Take/Retake the ACT/SAT

September 28 & Feb 8 - ASVAB offered at SHHS at 8am in Library

October 1 - 2022-2023 FAFSA opens (use 2020 tax info) - submit ASAP!!

October - Complete scholarship applications, if needed (usually due Nov/Dec of Senior year)

October 5 - Free ACT for Seniors (Free ACT for Juniors to be offered in Spring 2022)

November - Search for scholarships on fastweb.com, collegeboard.org, or salliemae.com

November 1 - Deadline to apply for TN Promise

December - Scholarship deadline – most public TN 4 yr. universities

January, 2022 - Request mid-year transcript for Common Application, if needed

January - Check for departmental scholarship opportunities at college

February 1 - 2022 FAFSA filing deadline for TN Promise

February - Check out Local Scholarship opportunities

March 5 - Deadline to notify counseling office of graduation recognitions/awards

May - Remember to request that your FINAL transcript be sent through Parchment

May 28, 2022 - Graduation

July 1 - Community Service deadline for those using TN Promise in Fall 2022
