October 16-20, 2017
Happening this week...
As we enter the third week of the grading period, please be diligent in checking Skyward for grades. The tutoring schedule is attached below if you need to retake a test or are experiencing difficulty in mastering the objectives in your classes.
All 6th graders should be reading a book either through iLit, Destiny, or our physical library.

Pre-AP Math ~ Mrs. Justice, Ms. Gregg and Ms. Parker
This week we will be taking our BOY math test on Monday. We will repeat the test again in January and April in order to track the growth that each student has made throughout the year.
On Friday during math class, students will be participating in the Gallup Student Poll. The poll measures are linked to desirable learning outcomes in 5th through 12th grade, including self-reported grades, perception of school success and self-reported absenteeism.
We will begin Unit 3, which will cover comparing and ordering rational numbers. Students will be working with fractions and decimals and will begin to track their own data from the test scores. Students will continue to track their data all year.

This week we are compiling our research to begin creating our Google Slides Presentations. Students will also be creating rubrics to get specific feedback on their presentations from peers. We have been discussing how getting and giving critique helps us to improve and to make our work the best that it can be.

P.E. ~ Coach Dunson
We will wrap up our football unit this week. Keep up the great work and be ready for our flag football tournament at the end of the week!
*Reminder* Please remember to bring your PE uniform to class every day. As weather gets colder it is acceptable to wear a jacket or sweat pants, but your uniform needs to be layered underneath to receive your daily dress-out points. Your uniform is 10% of your daily participation grade, so if you forget your clothes the best possible grade to earn that day is a 90.
