"Hey You Guys!!" Happy Monday, Black Raiders!
We have much to be thankful for given the state of the world right now! There are things we can do, and items we can take care of that we maybe didn't have time before to do - like Apply for Scholarships!!
You all have the ability to access the Scholarship Database that is located in your Homeroom Course in Canvas for the most current scholarships under Modules. I will be sending you a daily email that will highlight a few scholarships each day with upcoming deadlines.
Most scholarships will need a transcript and a letter of recommendation. Please reach out to your teachers, counselors or other contacts that could help you with these letters.
Now is the time to put your best foot forward and continue to look towards your future plans, whatever they may be!
If you have questions, please send us an email, and if anything, let us know how you are doing!!
Contacting College/University/Military Admissions Representatives
Students- If you are interested in contacting a college or university, please go to your school of choice and go to their Admissions Page. Feel free to call the number an let them know what high school you attend and they can direct you to the right Admissions Rep.
If you call or leave a message, you might say something like,
"Hello, my name is _____________ and I am a (junior) at East High School in Sioux City, Iowa. Could you direct me to my admissions representative? I have questions about what I would need to do to apply to your school. You can call me back at (Your phone number). Thank you for your time!"
Military Recruiters - If your student is interested in visiting with Recruiters from any of our United States Military branches, please have them give their information to Ms. Ericson. She will contact the Recruiters to have them visit with your student at East High.
If you DID NOT do this in Mrs. Swanson's English Class, please do it NOW!
