All parents of returning students MUST complete the Annual Student Information Update in Skyward for each student between Aug. 1-16. It is important to update your Skyward information each year to ensure that in the case of a school emergency or the need to send parent notification, we have the correct phone number and email address.

Bus Information will be available after Aug. 1st by clicking HERE

Before and After School Day Care: If you are interested in Campus Kids for before or after school, please visit this link for more information.

Dismissal/Transportation Information

One of our main goals is to get your students back to you at the end of the day safely.

We are a very large campus and work to get over 900 little bodies home very quickly. The end of the day can get hectic, so we ask for your help, cooperation and understanding.

If your child will be going home a different way, please let the FRONT OFFICE and your child's TEACHER know right away. Telling the teacher is wonderful, but sometimes they can't check voicemail or email until it is after school-so your best option is always the main front office. (832-375-8300)

We ask that you have the call made by 2:15pm. If messages are not cleared or given in time, please know the teachers are trained to send kids home their regular way unless cleared by administration. We CANNOT take a child's word for it when it comes to leaving school safely.

Car riders will be given a car rider number for parents to display on their rear view mirror during pick up. If you are sending someone different to pick up your child, please alert the front office and be sure that person brings their driver's license for check.. We will not release students to any person not on emergency card unless authorization is given by the primary custodial parent.

All car riders will be picked up in the front parking lot. Two lines will form in front of the school. It is imperative that you follow all Mahaffey employee instructions for efficiency and safety purposes.

Bus riders and day cares are dismissed in the back of the school and loaded with teacher supervision. Please note that once children are on the bus, they must follow the bus route to the designated drop off assigned by Klein Transportation.

Walkers will be escorted to the end of Mahaffey property by our first crossing guard. Students are encouraged to walk straight home. Kinder students must have a adult present at pick up or an assigned adult or older sibling escort noted at the front office and with the teacher.

We encourage you to talk with your students about the safety and responsibility of walking to/from school.

Campus kids are picked up in the back of the school at the cafeteria entrance. A Campus Kids employee will greet you and follow their sign out procedures.

Please note that Campus Kids is a third party day care that rents Mahaffey property. Even if a child is going to Campus Kids for the afternoon, the front office should be made aware.

Clinic Information

Please be sure that your Kinder and 1st grade students are sent with an extra pair of clothes in case those unforeseen accidents happen.

Before enrolling at Mahaffey, your student must be up to date on ALL vaccinations OR have an up to date exemption from the State of Texas. No student will be assigned a homeroom teacher if ANY medical information or immunization record is incomplete and will be unable to start class until cleared by administration.

Please be sure to disclose any medical history, medications and allergies to our nurse so we can keep your child's safety and health at the front of our decisions. Know that we follow all FERPA and HIPPA guidelines and this information is confidential. The more we know about your child, the better we can serve them!

School Supplies

If you pre-ordered school supplies from EPI, your students packet will be in their classroom already at Meet the Teacher.

If you did not pre-order, our school supply list can be found (HERE)

Message from Mrs. Mason

Scottie Families!

I hope you all had an amazing summer! I am extremely excited to embark on another wonderful school year! 18-19 was a super successful school year and I am eager to see what 19-20 has in store for us.

Our theme this year is, "The Road Less Traveled." At Mahaffey we pride ourselves on going above and beyond for our students and families. This year, we want to deepen that level of service an continue down the path that will bring every Mahaffey student to their absolute best!

We thank you for your continued support and dedication to your students and our school family. If you are new with us or if I have not had the privilege of meeting you, please say hi to myself and my admin team at one of our upcoming events!

I want to take a moment and say thank you so much for such a generous year of fundraising and community donations. Thanks to the profits from Boosterthon (hosted by our wonderful PTO) and donations from Campus Kids LLC and Dowdell PUD, we were able to expand our playgrounds!

Our large playground now has swings, a ring race area, a Gaga Ball pit, and some new tables and benches!

Our small playground now has swings (with one ADA belt), a 2+2 rocker, monkey bars and benches!

This year our fundraising focus will be on shade canopies for the playgrounds, field trip budgets, increased technology in our primary grades, teacher wish list items for classroom enhancements, and campus based educational events and speakers.

My admin team and I are always here to support our community and families. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
