Congratulations 6th Grade Artists!
Art by two of our sixth graders, Lorelai Auayan and Isaac Papillon, have been selected for our upcoming MTE PTO logo wear! Their art will appear on special 6th grade shirts, which graduating students will have this spring, as well as the next round of free PTO silk screening, which will take place in the coming fall. Thank you to Brandy Houllahan for leading students through this art lesson and creating this opportunity!
Lastleaf Productions comes to MTE
We were thrilled to have Lastleaf Productions come to our school this week for a theatrical performance of “The Three Little Pigs”. This performance was provided to our PreK, Kindergarten, and First Grade students. This was our PreK students’ first assembly, and they did extremely well! Thank you to our ECEAP program for this great experience!

We also need lots of donated cookies and volunteers. Let us know on the same form if you can donate and/or help us out.

Update on Measles from the Department of Health
The Washington State Department of Health has announced a newly diagnosed case of measles in Snohomish County. We have not received any direct contact from Snohomish Public Health identifying a student or staff associated with this new case, however, we wanted to share information about measles for awareness. Attached is the Snohomish Health District's webpage noting the locations that the person who has the active case of measles visited while infectious. Anyone who visited these locations during the specified times may have been exposed and is asked to follow-up with their medical provider.
Measles is highly contagious and can be serious. Measles is easily spread when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. Almost everyone who has not had the vaccine or measles previously will get measles if they are exposed to the measles virus.
To decrease the risk of measles in Snohomish County, Public Health has encouraged us to ask the staff to review their immunity status. Persons are considered immune to measles if they have written documentation of adequate vaccination that includes:
- Two doses of MMR vaccine for all school-age children and adults at high risk (e.g. college students, healthcare personnel, persons working with children and youth, medically fragile individuals and international travelers), administered on or after their first birthday,
- Birth before 1957,
- Laboratory evidence of immunity to the measles infection.
In addition, be aware of measles signs and symptoms, note the attached document. Report suspected cases of measles to your school nurse who will, in turn, contact Public Health immediately- Public Health will confirm if it is a positive case. If there is a measles case and there is exposure at a local school, Edmonds School District will work with Public Health to exclude non-immune/susceptible students, staff and volunteers for a minimum 21 days after the last exposure contact.
