PE with Mrs. Peterson
August 2018 - Issue #1
WELCOME BACK TO OES ......
HELLO ------
I hope you all had a great summer!!!! It seemed to fly by really fast, but that seems to happen every summer!
OES teachers are ready for another school year and I can't wait to get to know your awesome kids. We have several activities coming up right away.
3-5 will be participating in their endurance fitness run Sept. 5-10. It's NOTHING to be afraid of! I want to get a better understanding of the fitness level of our students in the fall and then work on improving that during the year. The students set personal goals for themselves and try to meet or beat those in the Spring.
K-2 will be playing low-organized games and learning how to play safe in our PE space.
My focus this year will be on teamwork. I want the students to learn how to work together, solve problems and feel successful. This is a K-5 goal, but there will be a lot of focus on teamwork in my 3-5 classes.
Please e-mail me petersonj@oskycsd.org or call me 641-673-8092 ext. 1562, if you have questions, concerns or comments. I especially need to know if you have any health concerns regarding your child and PE. I am in constant communication with the school nurse, but if there are other situations I need to know about, please contact me.
I am excited for another fun year at OES!!! My goal is to send you a newsletter once a month with skills and activities your child will be learning and participating in during class.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Jennifer Peterson

STUDENT TEACHER...... Ms. Murphy
Meet Ms. Murphy
My name is Ms. Murphy and I am very excited to be working in the Oskaloosa Elementary this fall. I was a member of the South Dakota State Softball team for three years, and was a member of the Indian Hills Community College Softball team for one year. I will be commuting each day from Ottumwa, where I will be living with my grandparents. I wanted to come back to Iowa to do my student teaching, because that is where I plan to live. I am grateful for this opportunity to be back in my home state.
A few fun facts:
· My favorite color is blue
· My favorite animal is a dog
· I have a cut on my forehead from a pickle ball paddle (that happened in P.E.)
· I coach softball in the summer for Iowa Premier Fastpitch
· I love being outdoors
· I played softball all 4 years of college
· My favorite baseball team is the Cubs
I am very excited to be working with you and your students. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at abbeylmurphy@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Abbey Murphy
