Staying connected with Walsh School

Welcome to Walsh School!

Dear Walsh Families,

I love this time of year...This is when the entire Walsh Staff gets to welcome in a whole new batch of friends and we get to see our old friends again, and let me tell you, we are excited to get back to school! There are lots of things to learn and do this year, and we are ready to get things going. We have been making plans and getting everything ready for our students, beginning with open house the week that school starts - look below for beginning of school details. In the meantime, enjoy the last couple weeks of summer. As always, if you have questions, please call the office. We are looking forward to a fantastic year!

Proof of Residency

PROOF OF RESIDENCY DATES: Wednesday, August 4th (11:00am-6:00pm) and Thursday, August 5th (7:00am-2:00pm
) at Ludwig School.

*Please note that parents with new kindergarteners should come in to the Walsh Office before these dates to prove residency.

All District 92 new and returning students will need to prove residency. Please bring the following documents:

A. Current real estate tax bill, copy of your lease, or if shared housing, fill out and notarize the 3rd Party Affidavit found online under Registration Forms at

B. Two forms of identification (i.e. driver’s license, utility bill, bank statement, etc.)

All new kindergarten students will need to provide an original birth certificate. A copy will be made and you will keep the original.

Be on The Lookout

Be on the look out for a letter home the week of August 9th with teacher assignment and bus rider information (if applicable). It is important to review the bus information and call the office with any changes as soon as possible. It takes a couple days for changes to take effect, and we want everything right for the first day. We also need the CHILD RELEASE FORM completed for every bus rider before the first day. If you haven't turned in that form, please do so today.

Please note, that only those students who have proven residency will get this letter.

Getting Started

Open House - Our virtual open houses will be at the following dates and times:

EC / Community PreSchool AM - Monday, August 16th at 3:30

EC / Community PreSchool PM - Monday, August 16th at 4:30

Kindergarten - Monday, August 16th at 5:30

First Grade - Tuesday, August 17th at 5:30

Please watch for an email from your teacher next week for an open house zoom link, and an opportunity to meet her and drop off supplies before the first day.

First Day for EC / Community PreSchool is Thursday, August 19th.

First Day for K and 1 is Wednesday, August 18th, with our early dismissal at 2:50.

School Hours are 8:50am - 3:30pm, with an early dismissal every Wednesday at 2:50.

Morning Car Riders: Drop off begins at 8:40 in the North Street parking lot. Please follow the markings and the circle drop off procedures. It is important that you not park and walk your child to the doors - stay in your car and follow the line. Please only enter the drop off line from North Street, as the one on MacGregor Road is a do not enter / exit only. The drop off line closes at 8:50, so if you arrive later, you will need to bring your student into the building at Door 1 and sign him/her in.

Afternoon Car Riders: Pick up at the doors is at 3:25pm. Please park and walk to your assigned door to retrieve your child. We ask you to please avoid parking in the main school lot on MacGregor at this time, as we have multiple buses moving about in this lot, and car and foot can create a safety hazard. Thank you in advance.

Absences: If your child is going to be absent from school, please call the office by 9:00 am. By law, we are required to account for all students, and if we haven't heard from you, we will use the emergency contact list to locate someone who can account for the student's whereabouts. Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

The Walsh Staff developed the following mission/vision statement to guide our SEL instruction at Walsh. Look for more information on our SEL each month.

  • Walsh Elementary School supports our youngest students by laying the foundation for lifelong social, emotional and relationship skills. We will develop a sense of self-awareness, self-worth, and responsible decision-making within our community through modeling and instruction.

Always feel free to contact the office with questions or concerns. We are here to help.
