FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ray Marsh Elementary School Receives 2020 Best of Shawnee Award
Shawnee Award Program Honors the Achievement
SHAWNEE May 7, 2020 -- Ray Marsh Elementary School has been selected for the 2020 Best of Shawnee Award in the Elementary School category by the Shawnee Award Program.
Each year, the Shawnee Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Shawnee area a great place to live, work and play.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2020 Shawnee Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Shawnee Award Program and data provided by third parties.

Personal Item Pickup-Library, Textbook, iPad, instrument Drop Off
We are excited that we have the opportunity to provide your child with their personal items left in the classroom. This will be the only opportunity to receive the items this school year, and final opportunity to see this year's teacher, before summer break begins on May 22. If you have a Wonders text book, library book(s), and/or choose to return your iPad for the summer, bins will be provided at the top of the loop to place them inside. Please read below for details:
Date: May 20th
Where: Ray Marsh Car Loop
Each teacher will be located around the loop. Identify your child’s teacher and pull up to their location. We are asking that you roll down your back window, or pop the trunk, so we can place your items inside the car. Please remain in your vehicle and give the teacher a big air hug or wave! Proceed to the exit, stopping to drop off any Wonders book, library books and/or iPad (if you would like to return it for the summer).
**If you would like to pick up a sibling's personal items in one trip, please contact the older sibling's teacher(s) so these arrangements can be made. The older sibling’s items will then be placed with the younger siblings teacher (by request only). For twins, please stop by and see both teachers as you make your way around the loop.

**5th and 6th Grade families
If your child has an instrument borrowed from the district, please plan to drop it off outside of Door 20, bottom of the stairwell. You can park in the lot and have one person bring the instrument to the door and leave it outside. We will pick it up at the conclusion of the drop off. Thank you!
Due to COVID19, our Inter-State Studios has had to reduce the staff at the plant and we have had to decrease our work weeks to 4 day weeks. This has put a delay in production. The typical turnaround time for this order would be 5 weeks, however, at this time, we are running about 3 weeks behind.
If there are any further questions, families can send an email to:firstname.lastname@example.org
I have truly enjoyed my 30 years at Ray Marsh. The staff have been so nice to work with and I would like to thank the PTA for always including us in the kitchen. I have enjoyed interacting with your children during lunch. They are a bright spot in the day . They are so funny, sweet and entertaining. I will always think of Ray Marsh fondly. Thank you all.
We are excited for Crystal Albo as she will be moving to Overland Park Elementary as their new instructional coach. Crystal is a tremendous educator who will continue to positively effect students in SMSD. While we will miss her expertise and energy at RM, we are eager to see the great things she will do in her new role.
Ariel rejoins our staff for the 2020-21 school year! We are super excited to see her return to our 2nd grade team after thinking we would lose her due to enrollment adjustments to staffing.
