Constructing Meaning

Argument Essay Workshop in Azere Wilson's 6th period English 10 Honors class

"I created an essay workshop incorporating Constructing Meaning along with other writing strategies. Their individualized workshop depends on their first Writing Performance Assessment score of 1-4. They do interactive lessons from their online textbook, that I chose, to meet their needs based on their writing levels. Then they do a partial essay revision that combines Constructing Meaning templates and CM academic language patterns along with Jane Schaeffer model worksheets, high level essay example, and college level quote embedding practice; all of which correlates with their online interactive lessons. This workshop tailors to each student so they grow from where they are. Every student, every day!

Students stated:

"My writing improved, because of all the resources she gave us."

"I can use what I learned to help me in other classes, like history."

If you are interested in learning more about Constructing Meaning (CM) please contact Ms. Adams, Dr. Kaplan, or Mrs. Arme

Culinary Class

The class made 30 pies from scratch over the span of two days. The pies were all preorders from staff members on campus. The staff will be able to enjoy these pies over the Thanksgiving break with their families. It was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to see what large scale baking looks like

In the spirit of giving thanks, our culinary students were able to learn how to set a table, prepare a holiday meal as well as enjoy a friends giving dinner
