From Your Captain

We are so excited to have a great turnout of students staying for tutoring after school. Please encourage students to attend every Monday & Tuesday. We appreciate everyone that is staying after school to tutor students. Make sure you are actively engaging with students; computer time should be kept to a minimum.

Grade 5 will be doing Mock STAAR Math on Wednesday, February 13. We will be using our intervention team and other paraprofessional staff and teachers as well as spaces in the portables, library, lab, and conference room.

Conscious Discipline

This Week's School Agreement: We will keep our school safe by keeping our hands and feet to ourselves.

Great job on all of the Anchored in Excellence notes! Keep them coming!

Click HERE for the February Morning Meeting plans. This WEEK you are starting your CELEBRATION CENTER! Send Helton a picture of your Celebration Center by 12 pm on Friday for House Points

February Makerspace

February includes a Valentine's Day-themed story about a robot on a mission to discover what love is. Students will use trash and found objects to create a surprise shape...a heart! Email Mrs. Helton if you would like to check out the cart. She will try to do the lesson with your class (if it's after this week).

Check out the plans HERE.

Staff Members of the Week!

Congratulations Mrs. Breeding for being our Teacher of the Week for meeting with the parents of every student so that families know exactly how their students are doing in first grade.

Congratulations Coach Ordones for being our Staff Member of the Week for always being flexible and starting each day with a smile and a great attitude.

SEAS The Night Plans

Mark your calendar now for our next family engagement event on Tuesday, February 19 at 5:30-7:30 pm. We will have hands-on learning activities, read alouds and free book from Junior League, book fair, music performance by grades 1-2, and a free meal.

You can take a look at the plans HERE.

Making Thinking Visible

Compass Points was one of the Visible Thinking strategies we explored at PLC. Here are the directions for getting this visible thinking routine started in your room. We would love to hear how it goes! Compass Points is a great strategy for also bringing in Depth/Complexity because it hits Unanswered Questions, Big Ideas, Multiple Perspectives, & Details. You can learn more at THIS website.
