Criminal Justice Program Visits Cambridge Police and Cambridge Fire in Porter Square
On Wednesday May 2nd 2018 the 9th grade criminal justice class had a chance to tour the Cambridge Emergency Communications Department with Anne Camaro (Assistant Director of Administration and Training).
We then proceeded a few blocks to the Porter Square Firehouse. In a strange twist we heard some of the 911 call for a fire that was a few blocks away from the firehouse we were going to. We then had a chance to walk up to the fire scene because all of firefighters from the house where on scene. We then watched them come back into the firehouse to clean up and show us the equipment that they use to work. Students got to see first-hand how Dispatch and first responders do their jobs. They also got see how fluid the job is and how things can change very quickly throughout their shift.
Special thanks to Lieutenant Michael Donovan (Parent) for setting all this up for us, and to all of the other firefighters that spoke to the students. Courtesy of Mr. Brendan Welch.
