Monday Matters
Thelma Jones Elementary Week of March 16-27
Greetings Shark Families!!
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and well. As you know, MISD has extended spring break for 2 additional weeks (March 16-27) to combat the spread of the Coronavirus. In light of this decision, our district is working diligently to provide campus administrators and our teaching staff guidance and direction on our next steps regarding our instructional delivery plan. Later this week, you will receive information about lessons and other resources that will keep the educational experience in motion for our students.
The district has provided a lot of helpful information via email. You can also find information on the district’s website. Please know that I am also available to you and your family. You can email me at micorhines@misdmail.org, should you have any questions.
Resources
Students still have access to ClassLink. They should know their logins, but you can email your child’s teacher for more support.
Below is a link to several great read-alouds, “how-to” writing activities by authors, and “how-to” drawing demonstrations by illustrators. The creator organized this collection into categories such as genre (Poetry, Fables & Folklore, Mystery), theme (Kindness & Love, Never Give Up, Friendship), and several more.

MISD Coronavirus Inquiries
MISD is continuing to work with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and other authorities to determine how this extended break will impact the rest of the school year. Frequently asked questions (FAQs) are being developed right now for families, which should be posted early this week. In addition, the district has established an email address specifically for inquiries about the impact of the extended closure. You may send your questions and comments to coronavirus@misdmail.org. A staff member will respond to you as quickly as possible.
