31 Future Night 6-7:30PMGreetings RHK8 Families,
What an amazing week we've had here at Raleigh Hills. This Teacher Appreciation Week has been wonderful and our PTO, students, and parents have done an exceptional job of showing their gratitude to our staff. We've had tasty breakfasts, staff meeting treats, delicious lunches, flowers, cards, small gifts, kind and encouraging thoughts, and so much more. I know our staff has felt very appreciated and they are so grateful for your support and partnership in this important work. Thank you!
Here's the News for this week.
Remember to Vote
Next Tuesday is the final day to cast your vote. As you all know, the Beaverton School Board has placed a five-year Local Option Levy Renewal on the May 15, 2018 ballot. This is a vote-by-mail election. If passed, Ballot Measure #34-284 would allow Beaverton schools to keep 300 teaching positions (approximately six at RHK8), maintain class sizes, and help ensure students are prepared for post-high school success. The levy renewal costs $1.25 per $1,000 assessed property value, the same tax rate at the current levy. Homes with the median assessed value of $238,000 would continue to pay about $25 per month. The levy would raise approximately $31 million in the first year. For more information, including an informational flyer and frequently asked questions, please visit the Local Option Levy Informationwebpage. Please remember to vote by Tuesday, May 15, 2018.

Safe Routes to School
As you may know, Beaverton School District received a Safe Routes to School grant. The purpose of program is to make walking and rolling (biking, scooting, bus) to school safe, convenient and fun. Many schools have made huge progress!
One of the requirements of the grant is to get some information about how your students are now traveling to school and what their parents think about the routes to school. We get our data through two methods that we need your help with:
1. Travel Tallies are paper sheets that go to all classes in all schools. You will be receiving an envelope next week with enough Travel Tallies and Instruction Sheets for all your classes. This should be done on two days the week of May 7.
2. Online Survey The following link was generated from the National Safe Routes to School Center and will be combined with classroom travel tallies to give us a good picture of how students are getting to and from schools throughout the district.
The school’s survey will be open for responses for three weeks starting May 1.
We appreciate your help in giving us information to make our program effective for all Beaverton School District students.

Box Tops
Bring in those Box tops! We've raised almost $850 so far but let's make it $1000 this year. The last submission date for this school year is quickly approaching. You have until May 22nd to get box tops to school so they'll be included. Put them in the box in the office or in envelopes in teacher's rooms. Thanks you for helping with this fundraising effort.
Next Parent Coffee with RHK8 Administrators
Our next Coffee with the Principal and Assistant Principal has been scheduled for Thursday, May 24. We will host this event in the library in English starting at 8:30am. Then at 9:30 we will host the Spanish-speaking parent coffee.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and a very Happy Mother's Day! Thank you again for your amazing kindness this week!
