It was a pleasure to see the confidence the children displayed at the Prep Proms on Wednesday.

Special thank you to Mrs Main and the Teaching Partners for all the effort they have put into this wonderful performance.

The children have been showing their enthusiasm and creativity in planning and constructing buildings in class with a variety of materials. We have discussed various materials that could be used for buildings to stay strong. We looked at old buildings and brainstormed about what kind of buildings they are, when they were built, who built them, where you find them and what kind of material they are made of. We have been thinking about how we can use various resources to find out about the information. Next week, we will look at the similarities and differences of buildings in the past and present.

This week we began our new unit 'How to...' books. The children discussed then wrote simple procedures like 'How To Wash Your Hands' and 'How To Make A Delicious Sandwich'. The focus was to begin a sentence with a capital letter and end it with a full stop. Next week they will begin to write books on a topic that they are confident of and know very well.

In handwriting, the children learnt the correct letter formation for the letter 'x'. Next week the children will learn the letter 'z'.

We concluded our addition unit this week by covering a range of games and activities. We have continued to consolidate the concept and the children have had time to work on recalling the number bond facts.

You can help your child continue to consolidate his/her addition concept by adding numbers on number plates on your drive to school.

Next week we will be starting subtraction within 10.

You are practising flexibility when you...

  • learn from your mistakes
  • are willing to change bad habits
  • try new ways to do things
  • don't insist on always getting your own way
  • can adjust when something unexpected happens
  • go with the flow, trust the unexpected

Next week's virtue - Cooperation
