February Newsletter
Monthly Updates
Greetings!
I hope everyone continues to have a great start to the new year. As we progress through the second half of the school year, our newsletters will continue to contain information on our learning formats, friendly reminders, things that are up and coming and more! I hope you enjoy the month and always reach out if you have any questions.
Respectfully,

Learning Model For Semester 2
Attendance
Starting Semester 2, if your student has missed contacting their teacher (attending the Google Meet, turning in homework, answering attendance questions, or emailing them directly about the missed class) it will be counted as an unexcused absence.
Mrs. Malean will then contact families on Friday's sending out a friendly reminder to have your student contact their teacher(s) to excuse the absence. As a reminder, meaningful two-way contact must be made on a Sunday-Saturday contact week.
Distance Learning Resources
The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) launched a new K-12 Internet Access Program to connect students in need to Internet access at home with no cost to the student or their family. Through the program, students whose families are low-income and are not currently connected to the internet can get connected through the end of the 2020-21 school year for free.
OSPI K-12 Internet Access Program
For low-income families who did not have Internet access prior to August 2020

Virtual Recess
Calling all K-5th grade Otters! Come join us for a "Virtual Recess" every other week to connect with your HomeLink friends at a fun, interactive Google Meet.
This "Recess" will not have any homework, but instead will be like our "Otter Talks" that we did last spring - we'll play some games together, learn more about one another and build strong HomeLink Otter relationships - all in a teacher-directed environment.
3rd-5th grade recess will be hosted by Ms. Harsin, School Counselor
K-2nd grade recess will be hosted by Mrs. Walles, Teacher
Ms. Malean, our Paraprofessional, will also be joining in on the fun!
Both K-2 and 3-5 virtual recess groups will be held:
B weeks on Mondays from Noon to 12:30 PM.
Here are the dates on which virtual recess will be held:
Feb 8, Feb 22, March 8, March 22, April 12, April 26, May 10, May 24, June 7
