Our new 1st grade teacher!

I am overjoyed with excitement to be able to introduce you to our newest Keller-Harvel teacher, Mrs. Denise Paul.


Mrs. Paul shares, “My vision for education is simple. I want children to learn, feel loved and become successful.” We are thrilled to for her to share her vision with the students of KHES.


She comes to us with over seven years of teaching experience in Pre-Kinder, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, as an intervention tutor, and as a long-term substitute in Keller ISD, Birdville ISD, Southlake and in California.


Denise will be busy setting up her room on Monday and Tuesday and then planning with her team on Wednesday during their GLP. She will then be in her teams' classrooms getting to know her students. She will begin working with her students in her classroom on Tuesday, February 16th.


Please stop by and give her a warm Cowboy welcome!!

Grade Level Planning

February 8 - 4th grade

February 15th - Campus Professional Development

Monday, February is a Campis PD Day. Once entered in Eduphoria, the February 15th courses will be as follows:


#1 - KHES TELPAS Training & Creating Common Assessments– (6 credits) 8:00 – 3:00

Teachers who will be rating for TELPAS will be trained for ½ day in the morning and then will spend the rest of the day creating common assessments with their grade level team.


#2 - KHES Creating Common Assessments & Team Planning (6 credits) 8:00 – 3:00

Teachers will spend the day reviewing & writing lesson plans and will create common assessments in Writing, Reading and Math.


Teachers who are being trained in TELPAS as a new rater, current rater or if you are wanting to stay current should sign up for #1. All other classroom teachers will need to sign up for #2. Specialists and Fine arts teachers will be off campus attending staff development.


Please be sure and sign up for your course by the end of this week.

Math & Science Night - March 1st

Our Math & Science night is scheduled for March 1st. More information should be coming soon regarding Science Fair projects and the specifics for the Math games. If you are on the committee to help plan this event, please make arrangements soon to get together. If you have already met, please be sure and share so that I can add it to the newsletter.

Parent Technology and Learning Night

Join Keller ISD Technology and Curriculum and Instruction departments for a District-wide Parent Technology and Learning Night from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, at Central High School.

The event is come-and-go and will feature tables to visit where you can collect information about the digital tools being used in Keller ISD.

Featured tables include:

  • New Keller ISD Campus Websites
  • Canvas
  • Home Access Center
  • Online Textbooks
  • Coding
  • Plus many more!


Central High School is located at 9450 Ray White Road. The event will be held in the CHS Cafeteria.

Early Resignation Notification and Perfect Attendance Incentives

Keller ISD is pleased to announce the Early Resignation Notification Incentive Program for those considering retirement or resignation at the end of this school year.


The first 100 professional instructional staff members – including teachers, librarians, nurses, counselors, and diagnosticians, etc. – to submit a resignation/retirement letter effective the end of their contract year to their principal no later than March 21, 2016 will receive an incentive stipend of $750 dollars in their final paycheck.


Those contract instructional staff members who submit their end of year resignation letter no later than March 21st will also receive an additional stipend of $250 in their final paycheck for perfect attendance beginning April 1 through the end of the school year.

To be eligible, the professional instructional staff member must be serving on a probationary, term or continuing contract.

KISD Film Festival

The Keller ISD Film Festival is back and looking for student filmmakers to show off their creative talents behind and in front of the camera.


Entries are now being accepted through February 29.


The festival is an opportunity for students to develop their visual literacy and expand their educational experience in Keller ISD by fostering the creativity, artistic, communication and technical skills required for producing a movie.

Students have seven entry categories to choose from including: Story, Comedy, Music Video, Documentary, PSA Plus, and Animation.


Students have the chance to be honored at an Awards Ceremony on April 5, 2016, at the Alliance Cinemark XD Movie Theater. Students can win trophies, certificates, prizes, and more!


Visit www.KellerISD.net/Film between now and February 29 to submit your film.

Also, keep a look out for video tips shared on the Keller ISD YouTube page throughout the festival to learn how to make your film a winner!

Canned Food Drive

You will notice several grocery carts in our front lobby. These carts are to help collect canned foods for the Community Storehouse. From February 8 - February 19 you can help the Community Storehouse restock their shelves to help a family in need. Show your support and place your items in your grade level cart.
