Blue Ribbon Committee
The Blue Ribbon Committee wrapped up their work last week. The group looked at a variety of options to reconfigure our school district. They will be making their presentation to the Board of Education at the Board meeting this evening. That meeting is scheduled to be held in the Brownell Multipurpose Room with a 7:00 PM start time.
After tonight’s meeting, the Board of Education and the District’s Administrative Team will be holding Town Hall Meetings to share the work of the Blue Ribbon Group and give community members an opportunity to ask questions. The Trombly Town Hall meeting is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, May 14 at 6:30 PM in our Auditorium.

Trombly Adult Book Club
Dear Trombly Staff and Parents,
We would like to invite all members of the Trombly community, staff and parents alike, to join us for our inaugural Adult Book Club. On Monday, April 29th, we will gather at 8:15am in the school library to discuss the One School, One Book selection: A Boy Called Bat, as well as another short piece, “Why Diversity in Fiction Matters”. To offer the opportunity to as many community members as possible, we will hold an additional meeting on Tuesday, April 30th at 6:30pm over at Atwater. Trombly’s students have all had the opportunity to engage with this text at their level. Now it’s our turn!
In gathering our staff and parents together, we hope to create a meaningful experience for the community at large to discuss issues related to diversity and maybe get to know each other a bit better in the process. Fiction allows us the opportunity to see our world through alternate lenses and, when we share that experience, we expand awareness, knowledge and empathy.
In conjunction with the book “A Boy Called Bat”, we will also be discussing this brief article. You can find it here: https://www.tckpublishing.com/why-diverse-fiction-matters/
So please consider joining us for this event!
Light refreshments will be provided!
Sincerely,
Trombly Diversity Committee

Leader in Me - Habit #6 - Syngergize
This month, we are learning about Habit 6: Synergize.
Together Is Better-Creativity, cooperation, diversity, and humility. This habit is achieved when two or more people work together to create a better solution than either would have thought of alone. It’s not your way or my way, but a better way. Think of 1 + 1 = 3 (or more). How is that possible? Well, 1 person + another person = 2 ideas + many, many more that neither of them would have thought of alone. It’s taking good ideas and making them better by working together and looking for a third alternative.
Thank you for your partnership in reinforcing your child’s leadership skills.
Camp Invention is Returning to GPPS!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame® (NIHF), Brownell Middle School is pleased to offer the nationally acclaimed Camp Invention® program to children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. It’s an exciting, weeklong summer adventure with lessons that explore connections between science, technology, engineering and innovation. Children work together to create solutions to real-world problems and build critical 21st-century skills while rotating through several high-energy, hands-on modules. The week begins on June 24, 2019 with Caitlin Kefgen serving as Director of the ALL-NEW 2019 program, Supercharged!
Activities give participants the opportunity to explore, discover and achieve while having fun!
Local educators facilitate program modules and enthusiastic high-school students serve as Leadership Interns, ensuring that one staff member is in place for every eight children.
