East Albemarle News
February 2022
Thank you!
I would like to begin this month's newsletter with a huge THANK YOU to each of you! Thank you for the unwavering support you extend to your children and their education as well as our East Albemarle staff. I have always felt that the East community is a very special place, comprised with families who are committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure their children are supported. Over the past month, and two school years, you all have demonstrated that time and time again. You have adjusted your schedules to accommodate remote learning days, worked with your children at home to ensure the learning continues outside of the school building, and beared with us as we implement Covid-19 isolation and quarantine guidelines. You have reinforced positive behavior with conversations at home and maintained open lines of communication with myself and your child's teacher. For all of this, the East staff could not be more grateful; thank you for all you do for your child and our staff each day!
Happy Valentine's Day!

We LOVE BARKing Bullpups!
We are super excited to be kicking off the month of February with our second quarter merit event at Sk8 City and Entertainment! Students who met their quarterly Class Dojo point goal were invited to the event for skating, arcade games, and a snack! A total of 283 students earned the merit event and we could not be more proud of the amazing choices they made each day during second quarter by BARKing - Being positive, Acting responsibly, Respecting themselves and others, and Knowing and using self control.
While we are looking forward to celebrating those that earned the second quarter event very soon, we are also excited to already be working toward earning points for the third quarter event in late March! Students may earn an invitation to that event by meeting their Class Dojo point goal and must not have any office and/or bus referrals. Help us reinforce positive choices by talking with your child about the BARK expectations at home. We hope they will earn an invitation to the third quarter event!
Class Showcase - Music with Ms. Rhodes
Before winter break I heard bells ringing all over the school, in early January I noticed students creating a beat with wooden rods, and this past week I experienced them using those wooden rods and buckets as drum sets to make music. I couldn't help but notice that Mrs. Rhodes, our music teacher, had a high level of engagement as she led student groups to create fun musical compositions! Enjoy a glimpse into her classroom by watching the video linked below!
