December In Focus
STAY UP-TO-DATE ON PTA IN RIVERSIDE COUNTY!
Happy December!
2020 is almost over!
This is has been a really hard year - thank you for hanging in there even though it's been tough. Thank you for hanging in there through public health orders that limit us severely, through struggling to reach families - through a pandemic. You are amazing, and you inspire us every single day.
The work you do matters - but so do you. Please take the time to have a cup of tea (or coffee or soda - whatever your drink of choice is!). Take the time to read the book. Take the time to play with your kiddos. Call someone for help if you need it, there are resources available. If you need someone - reach out. Please. Take the time. It's okay - this will still be here when you get back (Trust me, it will.). I said this last month and I'm saying it again, because this may be the month where you really need to hear it.
We can't do this without you. This time of year can be tough for many. Don't forget to take care of you, too. Engage in self-care if needed, or talk to someone if it gets to be too hard to manage. You aren't alone.
PTA is about making it better - and making it better may only be happening in millimeters right now - but someone's life is better because you're in it, and that's a powerful gift.
You matter.
No matter what this next month brings, the work you do matters - and so do you.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season and a Happy New Year!
Here is to 2021 being better than 2020!

Insurance Premiums are Due NOW!
2020 has been a crazy year; however, it is important to remember that PTA is a business, and that insurance coverage is still required (even if you aren't on campus.). Continued coverage is a REQUIRED component of your relationship with your school and your school district.
Unit Premium is: $258
Council Premium is: $178
WE MUST HAVE YOUR PREMIUM IN HAND BY NO LATER THAN 2:00 P.M., ON WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 16 IN ORDER FOR YOUR UNIT TO AVOID THE LATE FEE.
- If your unit or council has already remitted insurance, please feel free to check with us to ensure it was received.
- If your unit or council has not remitted insurance, DO NOT MAIL THE PREMIUM. Contact us at President@23rdDistrict.org to arrange for direct (contactless) pick-up to ensure we are able to process it in time!
- If your unit needs to request/complete a Premium Waiver, you will need to contact President@23rdDistrict.org directly to have this completed. The waiver must be completed by Wednesday, December 16 at 2:00 P.M. in order to be submitted to CAPTA for consideration.
Worker Compensation Forms - NEW SUBMISSION PROCESS!
The new form can be found here - and is just as easy to complete as the old form!
Find step-by-step instructions for completing this form by clicking this link!
The best part is that this form does not get remitted through channels - it goes straight from your unit or council to AIM insurance services! A copy of your completed submission will be sent directly to the email of the person filing the report, which can then be uploaded to MyPTEZ directly for compliance purposes (or sent to your Council if your Council collects items for upload).
NOMINATING COMMITTEES - Forming Now!
Nominating committees are a required piece of the election process for all units, councils, and districts! Nominating Committees must be elected by the General Association 60 days before the election is scheduled to occur, and no one can serve on the committee two years in a row, so make sure the election of the NC is on your agenda!
Information on how many members your Nominating Committee should have can be found in Article V, Section 3 of your unit bylaws, and we have a handy-dandy Nominating Committee Success! guide to help out your committee that we have attached!
Mid-Year Audits are Coming!
The first audit period for the year (July 1 - December 31) is coming to an end, and that means it's almost time for the Mid-Year Audit!
Don't forget to have bank statements and bank reconciliations reviewed, signed, and dated by a non-checksigner, and don't forget that the audit must be completed by a qualified auditor, or by an audit committee.
Don't forget to review the attached Audit Q&A to help ensure your audits are *chef's kiss* perfect, and you can also click the link to view the CAPTA blog audit steps: https://capta.org/your-mid-year-audit-in-5-easy-steps-step-1/
Have questions? Reach out to your Council, or if needed, reach out to us! Auditor@23rdDistrict.org.
