A zoom link and password will be sent to registered participants the morning of the event
This event is for high school students who are interested in attending a military academy and who would like to learn about the nomination process. Representatives from the Military Academies - U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy West Point, U.S. Air Force Academy and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy - will be presenting and available to answer questions.
For a student to be considered for an appointment to an academy, the applicant must have a nomination from an authorized nominating source. As a Representative in Congress, I can nominate students who live in my district and exhibit the type of character, scholarship, leadership, physical aptitude, goals, and motivation required by the academies. I am fortunate to have a distinguished panel of current and retired military personnel who review the applications, conduct interviews, and advise me to select the most qualified candidates.

It is a good practice to look at the list of schools visiting Sequoia (or the area) on a regular basis.
Below are the steps you must follow to attend the visiting college meetings at Sequoia High School:
STEP 1: In your Naviance account, go to the “College” tab on the top bar, click on “College Visits”, to get the complete list OR under “What’s New” on your homepage, select a college you want to visit and click on “Register ” until you see a confirmation box.
STEP 2: Ask your teacher of the class you will be missing permission to leave his/her class during the time listed on Naviance. IF OK, go to Step 3.
*STEP 3: PRINT YOUR CONFIRMATION PAGE on your Naviance account
*STEP 4: Have your teacher SIGN THE Confirmation Page as your pass BEFORE YOU LEAVE CLASS. If you do not a have a signed pass, you will not be admitted.
*You can also show it to your teacher on your phone and have a teacher sign a piece of scratch paper if easier
PROBLEMS –
If you are not on the list, you will not be admitted EVEN THOUGH your teacher signed a pass.
If you know you might have printer problems, print the pass in the College and Career Center at lunch the day before the visit.

Specific Community College Information
San Mateo County CC: Canada, College of San Mateo and Skyline
There are three community colleges in San Mateo County: Canada College, College of San Mateo and Skyline College. These Colleges serve more than 31,000 students each year and offer the first two years of instruction in a wide variety of degree and transfer programs, as well as vocational-technical programs.
The traditional four-year college experience isn't for everyone. Some students aren't sure what they want to study, while others are looking for a more affordable education. Many students study for two years at community college before transferring to a four-year college, saving significant money on tuition.

FAFSA Opens Oct 1st - Get Your FAFSA ID Now (Student and One Parent/Guardian)
What is an FSA ID?
It is a username and password combination that allows you to sign your FAFSA form electronically. Your FSA ID also can be used to access the myStudentAid app, sign loan contracts, and access certain information online.
Why do I need one, if I haven’t started the FAFSA Application?
Getting it ahead of time and using it to begin your FAFSA form on fafsa.gov or on the myStudentAid mobile app cuts down on errors and delays.
Does my parent(s)/Guardian(s) need to get one too?
If you’re a dependent student, one of your parents whose information is reported on the FAFSA form will also need an FSA ID so that he or she can sign your application electronically. (It is ok if your parents/guardians do not have SSN)
Where do I go to get an FSA ID?
Get started here!
FAFSA opens Oct 1 but it is quicker to complete if you have a FAFSA ID before you start.
The most important step is that you physically have your Social Security Card with you to make sure create your FAFSA with the exact name and number on your card!
