PARCC TESTING
- Grade 3 will be testing in the mornings of April 26th, 27th and May 3rd, 4th, 10th, 11th, and 17th.
- Grades 4 and 5 will be testing in the mornings of April 24th and 25th and May 1st, 2nd, 8th, 9th, and 15th. We have broken testing down on multiple days so students are only testing for short periods of time over several days.
Testing will occur first thing in the morning on these dates. Please make sure your child is well-rested and has a healthy breakfast on these days. We also ask that should you need to schedule doctor or dentist appointments, they be scheduled for afternoons or on alternative dates. Thank you!

Kindergarten/PreK Registration Open NOW
Kindergarten/Pre-K Registration is now open! To register your child for these programs, please bring:
- Birth Certificate
- Immunizations
- Proof of Residence (gas or electric bill or lease) (no Verizon or Comcast Bills)
Pre-K also needs:
- Proof of Income – W2 or 3 paychecks from last 6 months for anyone working in household.

CAREER DAY
We are quickly approaching our yearly Career Day and are looking for volunteer speakers! For the past few years, Whittier has hosted 10-15 speakers to share their careers with our fifth grade students. Each speaker shares for a 20 minute block in each of our five fifth grade classrooms. During these blocks, students have the opportunity to explore new careers and ask questions. Career Day is scheduled for May 16th from 1:15-3:15. Students will also be taking donations for the local Animal Shelter. See the list that will be sent out separately.
Support Blessings in a Backpack with Summer Sostice Twilight 8K- June 23rd @ 7:30pm
- It’s the original Frederick twilight race on June 23rd, 7:30PM and it’s only 10 weeks away.
- This is BIAB’s biggest and most important FUNdraiser of the year. The success of this event is crucial to ensuring hunger-free weekends for hundreds of our BIAB kids. Success depends on each of us, on all of us, so we’d be very grateful for any help you can offer.

Meals served at WHES from June 18th to August 16th
Whittier Elementary has been chosen as a site for open sites for the Summer Meals Program that Food & Nutrition Services will be operating June 18 – August 16, 2018.
The Summer Meals Program offers both breakfast & lunch to children ages 18 and under at no cost to the family. Breakfast is served 9:00-9:30 am & lunch is served 11:30 am – 12:30 pm Monday – Thursday.
Our own cafeteria manager Mary Morgan, will be working to prepare & serve the meals to the children that participate in the program.
