The Eucharistic community of Saint Paschal Baylon Catholic School
focuses on Christ-centered values and develops the unique potential of each student
through a rigorous and engaging curriculum.
A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Families,
Thank you to all who completed the survey about distance learning! The feedback provided was generally positive or helpful in nature. The teachers and I have reviewed the surveys and have tried to make adjustments accordingly to meet the needs of our students and families. I sincerely appreciate all the time and effort that is being put in at home by our students and families and by our school staff to make this a positive learning experience for all. As always, our goal is to work with you to help your child learn and grow.
On Tuesday, Governor DeWine announced the expected continuation of school closures through at least May 1 which means our distance learning will be extended. As I mentioned last week, our Easter break will remain as scheduled for April 10-17.
Next week is Holy Week, a week we set apart to recall the events surrounding the suffering, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. Monday through Wednesday will be regular distance learning days; however, on Holy Thursday, we will provide you with some activities that you can choose to do together as a family of faith. The past several years, Holy Thursday has traditionally been a retreat day for our students so we thought we would provide some activities that you can share in together as a family.
Please let us continue to pray for all those affected by COVID-19. We also continue to pray for the many parents at SPB who are in the medical field and providing care to those in need. You truly are the heroes in all of this. I hold each of you in my daily prayers.
Please give your kids an extra hug from me. I miss them dearly!
Sincerely,
Diane Raguz, Principal

I hope that everyone is adjusting to our new normal. I have heard that students are enjoying seeing their classmates on Zoom. It is great that technology can keep us in touch. Just a reminder that I am available at lpage@saintpaschal.com if you have any specific questions or concerns.
As caregivers we tend to put personal needs aside to ensure our children’s well-being. However, it’s important for caregivers to take care of their own needs to prevent burnout. It’s okay to create some alone time; read a book, take a walk, enjoy a hot bath. You might incorporate quiet time during the day for everyone. Always remember that it is okay to ask for help or guidance from your child’s teacher, friends, or family.
Some stress relieving ideas:
- This may be the time to discover a new activity for you or for the whole family. There are virtual tours of parks, zoos, and places of interest. (I have found some online craft tutorials)
- Find something new that you can do together- yoga, spring cleaning, gardening, cooking
- Take things slowly. Don’t plan more than three days ahead. This is a time where it’s okay to focus on the moment.
- Look for the positives. It has been fun seeing some of the social distancing activities that communities are doing: positive messages on the sidewalk, bear hunts, sending cards or letters to family and friends- use your imagination.
- Make use of social media to stay in touch with friends and family.
- Look for the positives.
Remember we are in this together!!!!

Primary Grades Parents/Guardians-We Need You!
The links for May for Kindergarten can be found below.
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:00-1:00. We are so grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you Kindergarten.

Spring Fling UPDATE!
Just a sad note - We will STILL HAVE the RAFFLE for Spring Fling, but the rest of the parish festival has to be cancelled due to the planning and realities of getting this ready for May. We do not know how this is going to play out. Too many unknowns. While we are hoping for a return to normal from this trying time, where many places are still locked down, we just didn't want to take that risk and loss. As it is, we will have to pay the bands, unless they are good enough to release us from their contracts. So keep selling the tickets: we will have the drawing as planned, Sunday, May 17, 5:30 p.m. We will have weekly drawings - so get your tickets in early!
