Wrangler Weekly
Week of September 5, 2022
Message from Ms. Bratton, principal
We hope your student is adjusting to the routine of this school year.
We want to assure you that our entire team is working together, including Officer Serna, and Hallway Heroes are on campus daily. All are focused on the safety of our students.
Any threat is taken very seriously. Please speak to your children that this is not something to joke about because there are serious consequences when a threat is made. In the past, campus expectations were delivered to each grade level in the gym. This year, we have taken the time to have our AP and counselor teams visit all students during Wrangler Time these first days of school. See something, say something has been emphasized. We need your help in pushing that message as well. and if you would like to be a part of Hallway Heroes, the information can be found below.
School is in full swing. Students are busy writing, working on experiments, and many are already checking out their next book from the library. We even had our first lunchtime karaoke today -- there is nothing more joyful than a few hundred students singing “Let it Go!” in unison.
Below you will find information from our counselors about our new students getting on-boarded to SchooLinks, an amazing program that not only helps in course selection each year but provides students a huge range of opportunities to explore career and college options in their future.
There’s also information about FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes; this program is NOT just for athletes -- it is open to any student. Please encourage your students to get involved and enjoy every opportunity given to them at SBMS.
Finally, we hope your family has a great Labor Day weekend.
Go Wranglers!
Ms. Bratton
English Learners Parent Night
Fellowship of Christian Athletes
FCA is Fellowship of Christian Athletes but it's not only for Athletes, it's for all students and staff. FCA seeks to make disciples by knowing and growing in Christ and to lead others to do the same. Different youth pastors around the community have volunteered to engage with the students and deliver a meaningful message. FCA will meet Friday mornings at 7:50 in the gym. Students will need to wait in their assigned area until 7:50.
Coming up: See You at the Pole is a time of prayer on Wednesday September 28th when students meet at their school flagpole, before school, to lift up their friends, families, teachers school and nation to God. It is student-initiated, student-organized and student-led.
After School Happenings
Our volleyball teams had their first game yesterday and our Wranglers came out to support -- we had almost 100 students there to cheer them on!
Parents, remember that if your student is attending an after school event, they must…
Have their ID
Be passing their classes
Be picked up by 6:45 -- students not picked up by this time will not be allowed to stay for future events. Our staff need to get home to their families and be ready for the next school day. Please pick up your student on time.
Hallway Heroes
Volunteers are essential at SBMS!
We are looking for Hallway Heroes...parents and guardians who can spend some time up at the school helping with activities such as traffic duty, checking for ID badges, assisting with Physical Education, checking door security inside and outside the building and mentoring students by reading with them or playing math games.
Time commitment is your decision; half a day, a whole day, or a partial day. All participation is valued and appreciated. Please share this with your family members who may be interested. And as always, your volunteer background check must be on file for the current school year. The background check may take a few weeks to come back, so please plan accordingly
