Gulf Elementary School 2021-2022
October 14, 2021
Message from your Administration Team...
With the transition into Fall and October, we have settled well into our school year. We feel a daily pulse of joy and social connection among and with our students. This has been highly rewarding and enjoyable. Our students are working hard to follow classroom expectations, procedures and safety protocols. They are beginning to make new friendships and/or rekindle old ones.
We are excited to bring back clubs this school year. Grade 3-5 clubs are this semester only. Students in grades K-2 will have an opportunity to participate in clubs in the Spring.
Please note that Friday, Oct. 15th, There is NO SCHOOL for students.
Kind regards,
Mrs. Verblaauw, Mrs. Beckman & Ms. Thomas

What is PBIS?
What is PBIS?
PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) focuses on the EAGLES Expectations to improve our school's ability to support and implement positive behavioral expectations for our students through the use of LiveSchool and our house system. EAGLES Expectations are positively reinforced throughout school on an individual basis, as classes, and as an entire school. As parents, you can support our school's PBIS program by encouraging your child to follow the EAGLES Expectations everyday at Gulf Elementary.

Teen Trendsetters
Teen Trendsetters is a national reading mentor program managed by the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. Our goal is to help all students to read on grade level.
Ida Baker High School Teen Trendsetters Program recruits, trains, and places groups of students as mentors for our grade two students. Teen Trendsetters provides high-quality training and curriculum materials to the mentors and gives each student high interest take-home books. The program provides teens with an opportunity to give back to their community, engage in a rewarding experience with their friends and classmates, and assist a child to become a fluent reader.
