First aid that will be needed for survival

Recommended Materials Needed

  • Sterile 4×4 gauze, one large package for each family member

  • Sterile 2×2 gauze, one package for each family member

  • Clean 4×4 gauze, one package for each family member

  • Clean 2×2 gauze, one package for each family member

  • A triangular bandage for each family member

  • Large safety pins

  • Roller gauze

  • Some chemical ice packs

  • A variety of band-aid styled dressings, I prefer the cloth variety

  • Butterfly bandages

  • Small and large elastic bandages

  • Spray bottle of normal saline as gentle eye rinse.

  • Three types of wound tape, paper, micropore, plaster

  • Sterile cotton swabs

  • Several packages of a variety of protective medical masks.

  • (Sterile gauze should be placed in contact with a wound whereas the clean can be used as padding over it

  • Neosporin cream, several tubes
  • Hydrogen peroxide 2 bottles
  • Isopropyl alcohol 2 bottles
  • Povidone iodine in bottles, 2 bottles
  • Diphendydramine topical liquid for insect bites
  • needle nosed or fine splinter forceps
  • Plain, and deodorant free sanitary napkins
  • Wire splint

What to do With First Aid

  • Evaluate the situation
  • Locate the problem
  • Remember the A, B, C's which are Airway, Breathing, and Circulation
  • Avoid moving the victim
  • Call emergency service
  • Roll them on back and open airways
  • Look, listen, and feel for signs of breathing
  • Check victims circulation
  • Treat any problems that are accuring
  • Use first aid kit to treat victim
