Early Learners Highlights
January 14, 2022
Dear Early Learners Families,
I know you've heard it before, but thank you, truly, for all your support as we navigate this current surge in Covid cases. Our building has seen significantly fewer cases this past week, and our team will continue to remain diligent in our extra layers of mitigation procedures.
The weather finally warmed up and we were able to get our kids outside for some fun winter play! Please keep reading to see what exciting things happened in classrooms this week.
Have a wonderful three day weekend,
Janet
What's Happening in Early Learners?
This week we dove deeper into our community helper unit. We had zoom visits from a police officer and dentist! It was so exciting to learn from real community helpers! Classes learned about doctors and the tools they use, as well as discussed what they want to do when they grow up.
We also focused on Martin Luther King Jr. in preparation for Monday. Students read books or watched videos explaining the importance of the holiday. We discussed how things were not fair, and how MLK advocated for equal rights. While we are not at school on Monday, we encourage you to discuss with your child the importance of this holiday.
Next week we will culminate our community helpers unit with our “when I grow up” day! Enjoy the long weekend!
Speech with Ms. Nathanson
Hi Early Learners Families!
This week in speech group we read The Spaghetti Slurping Sewer Serpent. As we read the book, the students answered wh-questions pertaining to the story. Throughout the story, the students also made predictions about what they thought was going to happen next. Predicting encourages the students to actively think ahead and ask any questions they may have.
Have a great long weekend!
