A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL COYLE
Fall has arrived! I am thrilled to have fully launched another school year that is sure to be filled with lots of excitement and learning. I have truly fallen in love with the Wright community, and I am continually grateful to be serving as your principal.
Later this month, you will have a chance to meet with your student’s teacher at parent-teacher conferences. Please know that the purpose of these conferences is different than years past – grades will not be completed yet. This will be a time to build connections and set goals. Progress reports will be sent home in December with two more rounds of conferences scheduled this school year. Of course, anytime you need to talk to your student’s teacher, please do not hesitate to reach out via email or through ParentSquare.
Let us know what you need and how we can help so we can partner with you to collectively pour our energy into growing your students!

- Please do not park in the bike lane or block intersections when picking up or dropping off your student. This is illegal and creates an unsafe environment for children and families.

- If your student will be absent for any reason, please call our Absence Reporting Line at (503) 399-5503 24 hours a day/7 days a week and leave a detailed message that includes student name, ID number, diagnosis, symptoms and date symptoms started.
- Please remind your student that they must enter through the front doors in the morning if they would like to get a school breakfast.
We highly encourage students to bring a water bottle to school with them every day labeled with their name on it.
Please remind your student to check the LOST AND FOUND by the office if they have lost something. Items that are found that are not clothing may be stored inside the office.

THANK YOU MR. TIM AND MRS. TATYANA
National Custodian Day is commemorated every year on October 2nd. Custodians are the people who keep schools and workplaces clean and running smoothly, and they work very hard to do so, so they certainly deserve a day in their honor. Custodial work can be a tireless and thankless job, leading to custodians often being overlooked and not getting the recognition they deserve. So if you get a chance to talk with our amazing custodians here at Wright please join us in giving them a huge THANK YOU!
TACO TUESDAY
On October 4, indulge yourself with one of the countless variations of taco because the National Taco Day is celebrated on this date.
Taco is a traditional Mexican dish composed of a tortilla rolled or folded around a filling.
A taco can be made with a corn or wheat tortilla and include a variety of fillings such as pork, beef, chicken, seafood, cheese, and vegetables. Tacos are often garnished with guacamole, salsa, avocado, tomatoes, lettuce, onions, or minced meat. They are usually eaten without utensils and it can all get pretty messy!
Tacos became popular in the United States and Canada in the early 20th century. The most common taco variety in the U.S. is a hard-shell taco. It is a crisp-fried corn tortilla filled with meat, cheese, and vegetables. Hard-shell tacos are sold by many restaurants and fast food chains. They were popularized by Taco Bell. There also are other taco varieties such as soft-shell tacos, crispy tacos, puffy tacos and others.
