Principal's Update
Scappoose Students, Families, and Staff,
The administrative team and I have been seeing high levels of teaching and learning going on in the classrooms as we are a month in and completing observations. The student engagement is awesome and rich discussion is happening across all classrooms. All of our student-athletes are dominating the fields and courts as we have returned to the Cowapa League, and all of our teams are battling for post-season play. Please read below for important announcements.
See you all next week!
Go Indians!

Testing:
AP Testing: If you plan to take the AP Test in the spring, you must be registered for the test no later than November 1st. The AP Test Fee this year is $72. Mail or drop off the $72.00 payment (per test) by cash or check to the counseling center by November 1, 2022. All fees must be paid by this date to take the exam in May or June. If there are circumstances that make paying the fee by this date challenging, you need to contact Ms. Pinkstaff ASAP at apinkstaff@scappoose.k12.or.us. Students who are enrolled in or eligible for the Free/Reduced Lunch Program qualify for a fee waiver. Email apinkstaff@scappoose.k12.or.us to discuss options.
SAT: This year Scappoose High School will be proctoring the SAT on October 1st, 2022 and March 11th, 2023. Late registration for the October 1st SAT is September 20th. Please visit collegeboard.org to register. Please visit the link below for frequently asked questions.
PSAT: Registration for the PSAT is closed. If you are registered for the PSAT, you should have received an email from Ms. Bettendorf with more information. Please reference the link below for FAQs.
ORSA/FAFSA*/Paying For College: If you missed out on attending the Paying for College webinars live, we recorded them! Please take time to watch the videos to learn more about the FAFSA process and other resources for paying for college.

*There have been some issues with the FAFSA website. It has been hit or miss for the past week. Hopefully, the site will be more stable in the coming weeks. Additionally, the FSA ID process is taking a bit longer this year, likely due to the new two-factor authentication. Students/Families should still try to obtain their FSA ID prior to completing the FAFSA/ORSA.
Scholarships:
It’s never too early to get started on scholarships. Check out the Scholarships Video on our Counseling Website for some good information on how to get the process started.
PERSONAL/SOCIAL
Meals:
The Scappoose School District is excited to offer nutritious meals to our students.
Free/Reduced Lunch Application
Scappoose High School also has a food pantry for students in need. Stop by the counseling office if you are in need or have any questions or even if you just need a snack.
Student breakfast and lunches are no longer free. Lunch is 3.75 and breakfast is 2.00. You can send money with your student and take it to the cafeteria or log into mealtime to add money to your account.
Personal/Social Testing: The counseling team will visit classrooms to collect data on student wellness, connectedness to school, and interest in high school mental health resources.
This data helps us connect with students in need of support, create targeted resources (such as counseling groups), advocate for academic and emotional support schoolwide, and apply for grants to support the counseling department.
If you have any questions or concerns about the assessment, please reach out to Alyssa Bettendorf at abettendorf@scappoose.k12.or.us.
