Student Services Team
Albemarle Road Elementary School Student Services is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of professionals including community liasions, intervention team specialist, counselors, psychologists and social workers with expertise in social-emotional care, academics, home/family life and health. The mission of student services department is to serve, empower and prepare students for college and the competitive world beyond. Our vision is to work collaboratively in removing barriers so that all students can succeed.
Meet The Team
Laura Flanders, School Psychologist
Supports students ability to learn and teacher's ability to teach. Originally from Florida but relocated in the area for graduate school at Winthrop University. She loves cooking, especially making salsa.
Tiffany Morrison, School Nurse
Practicing nursing for over 10 years. Originally from West Virginia, married with 2 daughters.
Mark Joslin, Social Worker
Works with students to improve attendance, problem-solvin and decision-making, and works with families experiencing crisis. Disc Golf & Outdoors Geek.
Jezmarie Allen, Communities in Schools
Surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Serves 10% of the student population who are in high need. She is a newlywed.
Morela Capote, Family Advocate
Serves as a liasion between student services and families, and assists with family events, parent involvement, donations, volunteers and translations. She loves photography.
Grace Tucker, Counselor
Counselor for Grades K, 2 & 4. Supports the socio-emotional health of our students through classroom, group and individual settings. Loves exploring new cities and finding new restaurants in Charlotte.
Saundra Lewis, BMT
Behavior Modification Tecnician supports student behavior by establishing positive student contacts that develop appropriate and positive behavior modifications enabling students to succeed. Enjoys hiking, biking, swimming and anything outdoors except fishing.
Indiana Torres, Communities in Schools
Member of Immigrant Service Team for CIS that supports our new comers from Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador. Loves to travel and has visited over 20 countries including Australia, Dubai, France, Italy & Japan.
Dr. Janie Braswell, Counselor
Counselor for Grades 1, 3 & 5. Supports the socio-emotional health of our students through classroom, group and individual settings. Native of Houston, Texas that loves spending time with her husband and grandsons.

Attendance Matters
Talk to your scholar about the importance of coming to school. Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school and themselves. Start buiding this habit in kindergarten so they learn that going to school on time, every day is important. Good atendance will help children do well in school, college and at work. Bully-Free Zone
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying impacts us all. When you demonstrate healthy conflict-resolution skills, your scholar will be empowered to do the same.
