The final task of this Unit is the completion of our summative assessment, where children and teachers will reflect on what we've learnt. Hopefully you will hear and see more information about this in the days ahead...
We also hope to see as many of you as possible at the parent-teacher conferences! Please sign up now for a time slot if you haven't already done so.

4a Update
In Maths, we have been working with decimal numbers and have ordered them, compared them using greater and less than and rounded them to the nearest whole number, nearest tenth and nearest hundredth. We have discovered that decimal numbers work in the same way as whole numbers.
In English, we have started our guided reading groups. We are using book detective activities to help us gain a deep understand our books. Come and look at the display in our classroom to see some of the activities we have done.
Tech-savvy 4B
4b has taken what they have learned about responsibility in virtual environments and put it into action. They are creating their own website using the Weebly platform to educate others about digital media safety. They have been engaged in producing the content of their website as well as creating their design layout. We are looking forward to sharing the finished product with the 3rd graders next week!
The fortnight in 4c...
- In Maths we have been rounding whole numbers, counting in decimals, and looking for patterns and rules.
- In English we have been writing Explanations to help us when we complete our summative assessessment
-For our Unit of Inquiry we have been sharing information digitally and looking at the features of a good cyber-safety website
We have also begun using the Grade 4 Twitter account. Please follow us @BMS_Grade4 - it's another great way of staying in touch with what we do!

Grade 4 German
Dear parents,
Our exploration into communication continued over the last two weeks with an intense practice of our unit words and –ie words through various games and exercises. It culminated in a very exciting workshop, during which the children had an opportunity to experience and try out different methods of communicating throughout history: cave painting, calligraphy, hieroglyphs and morse code, which they enjoyed immensely.
A big 'Thank You' to Malta´s mum (4a) and Ms. Chung (4b) for showing us how to write in Japanese and Chinese.
Our next steps will include letter writing, where we will explore the form, body and subject matter of letters and emails. We will also try to write SMS messages, where we will attempt to express our thoughts in 160 characters or less.
Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing October break!

Music in Grade 4
This week, the students have been diligently working on group presentations about intellectual property, with each group collaborating on a presentation about one of the five terms covered in our lesson: Copyright, Piracy/Plagarism, Sampling, Public Domain, and Fair Use/Fair Dealing. So far I have been very impressed by the students' responses. They have created songs, spoken sequences over self-composed music, role-plays, and informative presentations to demonstrate their understanding of intellectual property. Well done grade four!
