A Message From Mrs. Venghaus
Bear Branch Family,
Happy March! There are lots of great things happening this month. Our choir students held a performance this week in preparation for UIL competition and did an outstanding job. Band and Theatre will offer a performance next week, and entries have opened for our Magnolia ISD Livestock Show. Information on all of this is below.
It is also time for us to begin planning for next school year. Course selection will happen at the end of the month. Information for incoming 8th graders, and 7th graders (if you have younger siblings at BBIS) is posted below. Please be sure to check this out.
As a reminder, next Friday we will not have school as teachers prepare for the 4th 9-weeks.

Pre-UIL Band Performance
The BBJH Band will have a Pre-UIL performance for parents on March 9th held at Bear Branch Intermediate in the 6th grade gym. Performance times are as follows:
6:00 pm - Concert Band
6:40 - Symphonic Band
7:20 - Honor Band

Theatre Performance of Totally Red
The BBJH Theatre is offering a public performance of their
UIL competition play entitled,
Totally Red.

Course selection will be the week of March 29th. More information on this will be in the parent meetings.
Tennis Tryouts _ April 5th-7th
If students would like to tryout for tennis, please have them let Coach Smothers know either by emailing her at bsmothers@magnoliaisd.org or speaking to her in person.
Tryouts will be held:
Monday, April 5th through Wednesday, April 7th
After school until 4:30pm
What to bring:
Tennis racquet and dress out attire

Bear Basketball
7th grade B team lost to Creekside Park 22-27 last Wednesday, but did a great job battling back and fighting until the end of the game. Scoring was led by Jayden Cooper and Hendrix Tewald, with Landyn Anderson, Karson Dupre, and Teague Clements holding down the defense.
8th Grade A gave undefeated Creekside Park their best challenge of the year, falling short 45-47. Scoring was led by Thorne Nelson and Daniel Blackwell, and the defense was led by Anthony Bergenholtz and Joseph Solomon.
Both 7 grade teams will be taking on Magnolia Junior High next Wednesday at Magnolia High School. Come out and support our last game of the season!

The B team was led by a strong all-around team defensive effort, limiting Creekside Park from getting many open shots off. The B team Bears were led in scoring from Ethan Rodriguez (13 pts), Gavin Taylor (8 pts), and Cole Ulasewich (5 pts), picking up a 28-19 win.
Deveron Ogunye started the A team off with three consecutive field goals (13 points total on the game) to get the Bears rolling. Leading by as much as 15 at one point, the Bears had a solid defensive effort limiting Creekside Park's attempts at attacking the paint and walked away with a 46-35 win.
Great job 8th grade Bears!
Lady Bear Basketball
8th Grade B Team
Congratulations to Lady Bears B team. They won a great game 32-17 against Creekside. Defense was led by Tori Salinas and Jenny Trejo with 3 steals each. Natalie Hinds led the offense with an impressive 20 points. The girls will play their last game against Magnolia next week to finish out the season. Come cheer us onto another win!
8th Grade A Team
The Lady Bears 8th grade A team fought hard against Creekside, but fell short 31-36. Leading the team offensively was Elizabeth Adamek with 11 points and Hailey Dobbs with 10 points. Outstanding defense was played by Anna Crawford and Grace McEntire. Way to fight Lady Bears!

7th Grade Lady Bears B team lost a tough game last night but show improvement every week they step on the court. Rebecca Russell broke her foot at last weeks game but cheered her teammates on from start to finish. Violet Unruh was the offensive player of the game last night with 9 points. Additional scorer was Megan Gordon. Lillian Kaiser was defensive player of the game with 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Come support your 7th grade Lady Bears basketball program next week at their last game of the season here at BBJH.
7th Grade A Team
The Lady Bears played a talented Creekside Park team Thursday night. The Bears played hard but fell short. Leading scorers were Emily Hubbard and Stevie South, with Maddie Murdock, Landry Pitcock, Neha Sasser, and Mallory Capehart getting on the scoreboard as well. Devyn Tanguay once again dominated the boards with Landry Pitcock and Neha Sasser leading defensively.The Lady Bears take on cross-town rivals Magnolia Junior High at home next Thursday.
