Principal's Bulletin
Week 17: January 4-8, 2021
School Resumes January 4, 2021
I hope that you and your families had a very happy holiday season. We are excited to welcome back our virtual and in person learners tomorrow, January 4, 2021. As a reminder, as the district continues to monitor the local health situation we are not able to welcome back any new in person learners at this time. Families who indicated a preference to switch to in-person learning for the third grading period will be notified the week of Jan. 4 when their child can switch to in-person learning.
For our current in person learners, please remember to send your child with a clean mask daily. Also, don't forget to complete the daily health screener for your child BEFORE dropping him/her off at school. The health screener can be found at this link. As you are completing the screener, please pay very close attention to the questions being asked. If your child or ANYONE in your household (or anyone your child has had contact with) exhibits any of the symptoms listed in the screener, please keep your child home from school and contact the school nurse for further guidance. We appreciate your help by following these guidelines as it helps us keep all of our students and staff safe and healthy.
May this new year bring you an abundance of love, joy, health, peace and prosperity!
Mrs. Zagala
Principal
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Travel Guidelines Issued
In NISD, students or staff who travel internationally (includes Mexico) are required to quarantine for a period of 14 days upon their return. An individual may also complete a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test upon return from international travel and if the result is negative, they may return to school/work prior to the 14 days.
Students who are quarantined may continue their learning through asynchronous, or virtual, means. Currently, there are no restrictions on domestic travel, however, all domestic travelers are reminded that even though you may not have specific COVID symptoms, you could still be contagious to others. Be mindful of any COVID-related symptoms and report these to your health provider as soon as possible.
Students Returning to In Person Learning During the 3rd Nine Weeks
Northside ISD has no plans to return to an all-virtual learning environment. However, prior to the Thanksgiving holiday we did pause our efforts in bringing back any additional students into the building for in-person learning.
We will continue to pause and NOT add more students in the building through at least the first week of January (Jan. 4- Jan. 8) 2021. Families who indicated a preference to switch to in-person learning for the third grading period will be notified by the campus the week of Jan. 4 when their child can switch to in-person learning. We remain confident in the safety protocols and measures in place at our schools and we remain committed to meeting the instructional, nutritional, and emotional needs of our students.
As always, we continue to closely monitor the number of cases in our school and across the district, as well as Bexar County health metrics. Families who currently have children receiving in-person learning, but have concerns about the virus, can always elect to move to Remote Learning at any time.
