Winter Recess Just a reminder, we go outside for recess every day unless the windchill is below 20 degrees. Your child may not think he or she needs a coat to walk from home to the car or bus, but 30 minutes outside is a long time without a coat. Please write your child's initials or name on the tag inside their coat. When coats get lost, it is very helpful for us to find the owner if the tag is labeled in some way. If your child is in need of a winter coat, please contact Mrs. Terpstra, our counselor. | Yearbook Orders Yearbook order forms will come home soon. Yearbooks are $12.00 and the order form is due by January 30th. Checks need to be made payable to Frederick's Photography. You can also order and pay online using the following direct link: http://fredericksphotography.simplephoto.com/folders/482583. | United Way United Way in Huntington supports many of our programs including Kinder Kamp and B&G Club. We will have our annual fundraiser for United Way the week from January 23 through January 27, 2023. We will give each student a paper snowball for each dollar they donate. The class with the most "snowballs" at the end of the week will get a prize. Please look for more information to come home soon. |

Recess Monitor Needed
We are in need of an additional recess monitor. The hours would be 11:00-1:30 each day. Duties include supervising groups of students on the playground. You would not work when school is closed for inclement weather or during school vacations. If you enjoy working with children, this could be a great way to have a little extra money and still be able to be home for your family before and after school and on vacations. If you are interested in finding out more, please call the school office at 260-786-3021.
Fifth Grade Basketball:
We are starting our 5th grade intramural basketball season! Mrs. Thieme will coach the girl's team and Mrs. Terpstra will coach the boy's team. Practices will be on Monday and Wednesday from 3:40-5:00 PM for boys and Tuesday and Thursday from 3:40-5:00 PM for girls. Each player must have a current physical on file to participate.
Boys' Game starts at 5:30. Girls' game starts at 6:30 PM. Game days are as follows:
- January 24: Roanoke at Andrews
- January 30: Andrews at Salamonie
- February 2: Andrews at Horace Mann
- February 6: Huntington Catholic at Andrews
- February 16: Flint Springs at Andrews
- February 22: Andrews at Lincoln
Winter Weather in Indiana and School Cancellations
Just a reminder, we have one more built in snow day. If we cancel due to weather, we will use the make up day on May 25th. After that day, we will have e-learning days similar to last year for the next three days we miss due to weather. Teachers will record lessons and students can complete the module anytime during the day. We are sending home IPADs every day just in case we have inclement weather. After the make up day and three traditional e-learning days are used up, we will begin using Synchronous Days with "live" instruction instead of pre-recorded lessons. We will send out more information on this as we get closer to needing to use a Synchronous Day. Synchronous means, "real-time interactions by video".
