A Great Start..
Thank you for all of the wonderful craft supplies that you have supplied for your kiddos so far! It's hard to me to pull all of those things together for so many. If you ever have any extra craft materials or paper towel/ toilet paper/wrapping paper rolls, and you would like to donate them to the GT classroom, please send them my way. The kiddos love them!

Barnes & Noble Mini MakerFaire
I visited Barnes and Noble in Southlake, and they have a really cool event planned for November! They are having the first ever Mini Maker Faire from November 6th to November 8th. Their little card says you can "experience the latest in technologies in 3D printing, robotics, coding, programming & more." This event is designed for kids ages 5 and up with product demos, presenters, and (the best part) opportunities to get hands-on experience making, designing, and collaborating on a project. When we asked, they told us the faire will be in all Barnes and Nobles. It is a free event, but I'm sure there will be products offered for purchase as well from faire sponsors. This is the first one they've done so I don't have any experience with it yet, but I thought it might be worth checking out. For more information, go to http://www.barnesandnoble.com/h/makerfaire

GT Curriculum Night
Due to the unique nature of the GT program service design and curriculum, we will have a separate Meet the GT Specialists Night where families will have an opportunity to meet all GT Specialists. This will enable parents to learn about the KISD program design for gifted services and the exciting changes in the GT curriculum.

GT Curriculum Night for KHS Feeder Pattern Schools
In an attempt to meet the needs of our GT families in the Keller HS feeder pattern, the Advanced Academics department will offer an alternative date for the GT parent information night on Wednesday, October 14 from 5:00-6:00 p.m. at the Education Center located at 350 Keller Parkway. The meeting will take place in the Texas rooms which are located on the East side of the district office off of College street. It says “teacher training” on the outside of the doors. Please enter through those doors since the main entrance will be locked. Tracy Johnson, Coordinator of Advanced Academics, will lead the meeting, however GT Specialists will not be in attendance. If you aren’t attending the KHS Homecoming parade on October 5th, please plan to attend the District GT parent information night at Central HS from 7:00-8:00. All GT Specialists will be in attendance at that meeting.
