Principal's News

Dear Cliffwood School families,

Wow, the school year is flying by! We are almost at the halfway point and our kids and staff are doing an outstanding job so far. I am so proud of the progress that our learners have made! As we move into the Winter months, and the weather can be unpredictable, here are just a few quick reminders:

  • Please try to dress your child in layers as some classrooms are warmer or cooler than others.
  • Please make sure your child is dressed warm enough and with appropriate shoes to go outside for recess/DPA. We will still go outside for recess, even in the Winter, so long as the blacktop and equipment is dry and it isn't bitterly cold outside.
  • Please make sure that your contact info is current on parent portal. In the event of a school closing, delayed opening, or early dismissal, the district will notify you using the info you have provided. Please check to make sure that your phone number(s) and email address(es) are correct and your preferences for notifications are set.
Please check out the info below and I can't wait to see what our learners do in the second half of the school year! Thanks and take care,

Mark Van Horn, Principal

Congratulations to our Educators of the Year!

Recently, two of Cliffwood's educators were recognized for the great work they do each day. Mrs. A. Pappas was named Teacher of the Year and Mrs. Hebding was named Educational Services Professional of the Year. Thank you so much to all parents and staff who participated in the nomination and selection processes. These are two well-deserving recipients!

Come out and support a great cause!

Cliffwood community, come out on Tuesday, 1/14, to support Cliffwood and a great cause! Our school is partnering with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society to raise funds for cancer research. Our awesome teachers and staff will be working behind the counter at the McDonald's on route 34 in Aberdeen (not the McDonald's on 35 in Cliffwood) on Tuesday, January 14 from 5-8 p.m. Come out and join us for dinner! A portion of your bill will support our Cliffwood Proud team and go toward research. It was a great time the last 2 years and it should be even better this year. Thanks and we hope to see you there!

Let's celebrate our hard work for One School/One Book!

Did you child love our One School/One Book program and enjoy reading The Mouse and the Motorcycle? Then let's celebrate by attending a free evening at iPlay America indoor theme park in Freehold! Cliffwood will have its own special night at iPlay on Friday, January 31st from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Cliffwood parents/guardians must visit www.iPlayAmerica.com/OneSchoolOneBook to download a special pass to receive this offer.
