St. John Nepomuk Catholic School
Mission Statement
News from the Principal
Dear Parents,
The Archdiocese has issued a statement regarding the upcoming public school teacher walkout. This information is from Superintendent of Schools in the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City, Diane Floyd. Our Catholic School teachers are not participating in the walkout with regard to a stoppage of work in our catholic schools. We are tuition-based and while we want to be in solidarity with all in our profession, we have a commitment to our students and parents for school to be in session. However, this does lead to the question of how can we support our fellow teachers in the public schools?
Many have expressed support via social media, which is acceptable. It is important to keep in mind, as we should anytime we put something out via social media, that we do so in an appropriate and non-disparaging way. We may have teachers, parents and students that will participate in some way on the state-wide walkout day April 2nd, a day we are not in school. School will resume on April 3rd, and by all accounts we will be business and learning and usual.
To our parents and teachers, thank you for your unwavering support of education and in particular, St. John Nepomuk Catholic School. We are excited for continued learning through this fourth and final quarter of the school year.
Sincerely,
Natalie Johnson, M.Ed.

Enrollment Update!
Mrs. Johnson is Off to CINCINNATI!
Last Summer I was notified that I had been named a presenter at the National Catholic Education Association Annual Convention. The 2018 NCEA Convention & Expo will take place April 3 -5 at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati, OH and is the largest private-education association gathering in the nation. As a Google for Education Certified Trainer, I will present a present a professional development session over Google for Education Apps and Programs to attendees.
NCEA invites educators for this one-of-a-kind event that brings together Catholic and other religious educators from across the United States, Canada and other countries to exchange ideas and debut cutting-edge research and technologies related to education. Those participating represent all aspects of Catholic and faith-based education from preschool, elementary, secondary, adult education, colleges and universities to local parish pastors, priests, parish volunteers and more. NCEA boasts more than 200 professional development sessions, beautiful liturgies, and special events.
I am excited and honored to represent our school and the Archdiocese in this capacity. Because of my travels to Cincinnati, I will be out of the office on April 4th & 5th. Should you need assistance, Please contact the office. I appreciate your prayers and support!
In Christ,

Good Friday & Living Stations of the Cross
In the spring of 2007, SJN School began holding class for a half-day on Good Friday. There are no tests or classwork. Rather, because it is Good Friday, it is a mini-retreat day for teachers and students. We begin the day with morning prayer and conclude with a live presentation of the Stations of the Cross, performed by the 7th grade class, prayed by all.
We’ve used many different versions over the years, all to help the stations “come alive” in a more dramatic way.
This year is our tenth year to make the presentation, and we will present the Living Stations of the Cross on Friday, March 30 at 12:00 p.m. It is our sincere hope that this presentation will help all who attend grow closer in unity with Jesus’ suffering and death and ultimate victory.
Seventh grade live stations is directed by Maggie Fuchs and Robert Noble with a special thank you to Mrs. Heard for coordinating and supporting the event!
Good Friday Lunch Plans
We will dismiss for the day at 12:45 pm on Good Friday. There will be no cafeteria service on Friday, March 30. Due to this, ALL students should bring a lunch from home.
No Aftercare on March 30 for Good Friday

Care & Share Deadline Approaching
The end of the month of April brings the deadline for our Care & Share submissions for the current school year. Current totals for families are being sent home with students today. Please be certain to log any hours that have not been recorded by Friday, April 28. If you are volunteering or have volunteered in an area that earns the automatic Care & Share requirement, please record it in the log book. Each hour that your family is unable to complete is subject to a $20.00 fee payable to St. John Nepomuk Catholic School. I have included some helpful notes and guidelines for Care & Share below. If you have questions or concerns, feel free to contact me or our Care & Share Coordinator, Angie McPherson by clicking HERE. You can use this LINK to post Care & Share submissions online.
Care & Share Information
Each year, families are asked to give 30 hours of your time and talent to our school family. Only 15 hours are required for single parents. If your family chooses not to donate the minimum service hours, a $20 fee will be charged for each hour not completed. Teachers and staff who have children attending St. John Nepomuk are not asked to give service hours, but are still encouraged to support all school activities.
The C&S program year starts on May 1, and ends on April 30. No hours can be carried over to the next year. Those who have been unable to complete their hours may pay the C&S fees any time during the school year. Those who are returning next fall will be required to pay any unpaid C&S fees at registration. Any families not returning in the fall should pay their fees before the last day of classes.
Up to 10 hours of the total 30 hours (5 hours for those only required to give 15) may come from time donated in service to the parish. Parish activities eligible for the C&S program are: religious education teacher, serving drinks at the parish picnic, elected membership on the parish council, liturgy board, finance committee, and property committee. No other parish activities may be counted toward C&S hours unless approved by the principal.
Any member of your family may do volunteer work toward the service requirement. Please make sure that the hours are recorded under your Family name in order to get the credit.
