A Message From Mrs. MacNeil
Hello DWS Families!
We are finally in the home stretch! What a great year! I want to thank the DWS staff, students, and families for an amazing first year as principal. The welcome and partnership I have felt from you all is nothing I have ever felt before. I have been saying since the day I was hired that I feel so lucky to have part of this community and that could not be more true. I look forward to our continued work together.
To our fifth-grade families who are graduating from DWS, we wish you well in middle school!
This will be the last newsletter from me for the summer. However, I will be available by email throughout the summer.
I wish you all a warm, happy, and family-filled summer!
In Partnership,
Mrs. MacNeil

2022-23 School Nutrition Free Lunch/Breakfast Update
Please see the email that was sent to the district on May 11, 2022.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We want to update you regarding the free school meals that the Marshfield Public Schools have been able to serve to your children since the beginning of COVID in March 2020. When COVID started, the federal government created a national policy that allowed schools in the entire country to provide free meals to all students. As of now, it is likely that this national policy will end on June 30th, and we want our families to be prepared and give ample time to prepare for this change.
What this means for Marshfield Public School families is that next school year we may return to the traditional system, where students receive free, reduced-price, or full-price meals based upon income status. In order to ensure we can provide free or reduced-price meals to as many families as possible, we will need families to complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals in August 2022 for next school year. Please note that this does not affect the remainder of the current school year. We will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to ALL students until this school year ends June 23, 2022.
The most important thing that you can do to prepare for the start of school is to complete the 2022-23 Massachusetts Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals, which will be available online in August 2022 at www.mpsd.org. We strongly encourage all families to submit this form as it is important for the district’s records, and allows us to also waive certain district fees for those who qualify. We will be in touch again in August with the application information and form.
In addition, please consider applying for SNAP, the federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. While the 22-23 MA Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals is not available to complete until August, the application for SNAP is available now. SNAP information and application can be found at www.gettingsnap.org .
To put money on your child’s account for lunch or a la carte items, we encourage you to log onto www.myschoolbucks.com where you can pay online and check your child’s account at any time. All funds on account are rolled over from year to year.
The School Nutrition Department at Marshfield Public Schools thanks you for your patience during this anticipated change and we understand the burden that this may place on many families. As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide nourishing and healthy meals to all our students, please reach out to us at ntellier@mpsd.org or 781-319-3812 with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Marshfield Public Schools School Nutrition Department

COVID-19 Information
Information regarding COVID-19 is continually being updated and shared with our school district. On the district's “Health Services” webpage you will find links in RED with the most up to date information regarding our district’s policies as well as updates from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
If your children are unwell and require testing for COVID-19 we encourage you to reach out to the school nurse to discuss further.
Please remember to send your students to school with a reusable water bottle and filling snack daily!
All students have a snack break during the day. Please pack a healthy snack EVERY DAY! Great snacks include easy to eat fruits and veggies like apples, oranges, carrots and cucumbers as well as whole grain snacks including granola bars, crackers. Cheese sticks and yogurts are another great option. These ideas help keep hungry bellies at bay and students ready to learn!
Have your child bring a water bottle (or two) from home EVERY DAY. Due to COVID the water fountains are not available for one time use but the bottle filling station can be used to refill bottles as needed.
