District Updates

ELA Materials for 2015 - 2016

The district will be purchasing the following for schools sites, with a planned Board Adoption in the Fall:

  • Lucy Calkins' Reading Units of Study K - 5
  • Classroom leveled libraries to support the units
  • Words Their Way for grades K - 5 with student workbooks
  • Leveled Literacy Intervention Kits (LLI)

OCR is still the adopted curriculum for the district and needs to stay in classrooms for the 2015-2016 Williams case.

Summer Professional Development SAVE THE DATES

  • BAL201 Morning PDs: June 23 (Conferring), June 24 (Writing Workshop), June 25 (ELs in the Reading Workshop)
  • TCRWP Training of Trainers: July 27 - 30, for teams of 5 from each school site (ideally 2 lower, 2 upper + coach/principal) who will be responsible for facilitating professional learning at their site I am trying to get a team of us to attend this training. Please let me know if you will be able to attend. Keep in mind we will have a common core teacher leader that will help in the planning and implementation of pd. This is a great opportunity to build our skills in BAL. Thanks!

computer upgrade

We have begun the process of upgrading our classroom computers. We are exchanging our current classroom computers for refurbished computers. We are also connecting printers in each classroom. In preparation for your classroom computers to be upgraded please drag all of your files to the drive. Also if you have anything you need on the office computer please do the same. Drag your files to the drive. I am trying to place 2 computers in the office like we had before.

As part of OUSD1 we will also be transitioning from ABI to Aeries.net for attendance and grade reporting.

This month we are working with school representatives and other partners to build a comprehensive training and support plan. Go to theOUSD1 website for more details

The Esperanza Vision and Mission

VISION

Students engage in rigorous, high quality, biliterate academics which prepare them for college and career. Esperanza students and families take responsibility for their learning which allows them to be academically strong in two languages. With a growth mindset, they are unique individuals, who critically think and are determined to succeed. Students show respect for themselves, others and the environment.

MISSION

Through PLC’s teacher are able to plan for mindful and purposeful instruction. Teachers collaborate to implement rigorous instruction, that meets the needs of all students. Teachers engage in peer observations to receive and give constructive feedback. Teachers use data to drive instruction and make clear plans for corrective instruction. We engage the family and community in quarterly meetings to review growth and set goals.
