Welcome Back, Thomas Tigers
Greetings, Thomas Families!
Excitement is in the air, as Thomas Elementary staff and P.T.O. members return and prepare to welcome students to the building in the coming week! Our custodial crew has spent the summer cleaning and painting around the building. Staff are rearranging and refreshing materials. Teachers are spending additional hours of professional development time reviewing curriculum and organizing their classrooms. P.T.O. families have disseminated school supply kits to those who have ordered them. Our office team and P.T.O. have created folders for each child. We are ready for an amazing 2022-2023 school year! We can't wait to see you!
Families, you will have an opportunity to meet the Thomas Staff at our Thomas Walkthrough, Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Students with the last name beginning A-K will visit 2:00-2:30 p.m. Students with the last name beginning L-Z will attend 2:30-3:00 p.m. This will help spread the number of visitors out during our big event. New families are invited to meet in the gym from 3:00-3:30p.m. after visiting the classroom for an optional time with the school counselor and principal.
Welcome to Thomas, new families! We are thrilled to have you join us! We have 30+ new students and 80+ kindergarteners. Seeing the Thomas family grow is energizing! Thomas is beginning the year with close to 550 students. We look forward to meeting new friends, sharing ideas, and broadening our perspectives!
During the walkthrough, several informational tables will be set up, such as P.T.O., DCS Transportation, Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Dublin Latchkey. You will be able to visit your child’s classroom, say hello to the teacher, and meet back in the commons and playgrounds. As time is limited, if you have more information to share with your child’s teacher, please consider emailing the communication or setting up a time to talk. The Thomas P.T.O. has invited the Kona Ice Truck to visit if you wish to purchase a treat.
School Information Videos will take the place of Curriculum Nights this year. Teachers will create an informational video, sharing routines, curriculum, and the practices of the classroom. This will be sent home on Friday, August 19th from your child’s teacher. These informational videos will help families develop a clear understanding of the grade level and classroom. It will remain accessible to families as a resource.
The Thomas Elementary community is TErrific! Thank you for teaming with us for the best year yet!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jenny Davis

DISTRICT NEWS

District Information
Masks Welcome During 2022-2023 School Year
Our plan is to start the school year as normal as possible. The District will comply with orders or mandates from agencies with jurisdiction. Absent an order, the administration will communicate recommendations or advisories and let parents make the decision that is best for their family.
COVID-19 will be treated as we have traditionally handled any infectious illnesses in our schools, each having specific exclusion criteria. Individuals with confirmed cases of COVID-19 should remain out of school for 5 days and may return on day 6 if symptoms have improved. We ask that individuals take personal responsibility for monitoring their health and the health of their family and stay home until they are feeling better.
We will not require masks and we will not contact trace. The Dublin City School District ended the 2021-2022 school year without a mask mandate, and we were able to have critical face-to-face instruction. We will continue to be “mask welcome” at all grade levels.
