COVID Vaccination Information
Parents, you can upload a completed student COVID vaccination card using the link below. It is not required to upload the information, but it is helpful for the nursing department to have the information on file. If your child is identified as a close contact of a positive case and you can prove your child has been vaccinated and is asymptomatic, then they will not need to quarantine.
If you choose to upload the child’s completed vaccination card, you must sign into your child’s @trumbullps.net Google account to complete the form and upload the card. If you receive an error message, “you need permission” it is because you are not signed into your child’s Google account.
February is National Black History Month!
In 1915, in response to the lack of information on the accomplishments of Black people available to the public, historian Carter G. Woodson co-founded the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History. In 1926, the group declared the second week of February as “Negro History Week” to recognize the contributions of African Americans to U.S. history. Few people studied Black history and it wasn't included in textbooks prior to the creation of Negro History Week.
This week was chosen because it includes the birthdays of both Frederick Douglass, an abolitionist (someone who wanted to end the practice of enslaving people), and former U.S. president Abraham Lincoln. President Lincoln led the United States during the Civil War, which was primarily fought over the enslavement of Black people in the country. Many schools and leaders began recognizing the week after its creation.
The week-long event officially became Black History Month in 1976 when U.S. president Gerald Ford extended the recognition to “honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.” Black History Month has been celebrated in the United States every February since. Second grade
Third grade
Students learned the popular Chinese New Year song Gong Xi. They created original movements to three verses of the song and performed it for their classmates.
Fourth grade
Students learned about famous composer Leroy Anderson who lived in Woodbury, CT. While listening to his compositions, students followed listening maps, compared vocal and instrumental performances, performed movements, and played unpitched percussion instruments.
Fifth grade
Students used solfege syllables to sing a scale and do a variety of vocal exercises while using Boomwhackers (tuned plastic tubes). They are also being introduced to ear training, a fun and rewarding challenge.

ATTENTION 5TH GRADE FAMILIES
A message from our 4th grade girls of Troop 35176
Hello Middlebrook Family,
The 4th grade girls of troop 35176 are doing a fundraiser for a local charity, The Center for Family Justice. This charitable organization helps individuals and families leave abusive situations and connect with services to better their lives. They are in most need of gift cards and diapers of any size, as a lot of the clients are young women with children. So the week of Valentine’s Day let’s show some love by helping some families in need. If you would like to donate please send it in a labeled envelope “GS troop fundraiser”. If you are donating diapers there will be a box outside the office labeled diaper donations. The final day for donations will be Friday 2/18.
Thank you,
Girl Scout Troop 35176
