Principal's Message
Dear Cougar Community,
I hope your family took the opportunity to participate Family Science Night. I appreciate Ms. Fink organizing this with The Children's Science Center. What a great opportunity for our families to have the opportunity to learn together!
There is information below about the return to school for hybrid students. Please take a few moments to review this information carefully. More information will be posted during the coming weeks.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gwynn
Cougar Elementary Specific Return to School Information for Hybrid Students
The teachers and staff are excited to welcome back students who have chosen to return to school in a hybrid model. We will be phasing in students over several weeks to give our youngest students the opportunity to get acclimated to school.
Some students will need to change teachers based on the choice of hybrid or virtual made by families. If a student is moving to a different class, emails will be sent to each family on Friday, February 19th with the name of the new teacher.
All new class placements will start on an asynchronous basis on March 2nd. Students will start synchronously with their new teacher on March 5th.
March 2 - Zone 1 Hybrid PreK Students and Self-Contained Special Education Students
March 3 - Zone 2 Hybrid PreK Students and Self-Contained Special Education Students
March 9 - Zone 1 Hybrid Kindergarten
March 10 - Zone 2 Hybrid Kindergarten
March 11 - Zone 1 Hybrid 1st Grade
March 12 - Zone 2 Hybrid 1st Grade

Once a grade level starts they continue in the hybrid pattern until the end of the school year.

ESOL Testing Information
Reminder that WIDA ACCESS testing for students that will be remaining virtual learners for the school year is occurring IN PERSON in the next two weeks. The families of Zone 2 students that will be testing 2/17 – 2/19 received an email on 2/10 with those details. The families of Zone 1 students that will be testing 2/22 – 2/24 will be receiving an email in the next few days. Students that will be starting school in the hybrid schedule in March will be testing during school hours while at school. Please help your child to remember to bring their Chromebook, charger, and bookbag. Teachers will meet your child at the bus loop. Parent drop off is located in the Brandon Street parking lot and a teacher will meet your child there. The morning session is 8 AM – 11 AM and the afternoon session is 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM. The ESOL teachers are excited to begin the WIDA testing and see your students!
